I see him as a FB or TE at the next level. I don't think he is quick enough off the mark or sudden enough to be effective as a RB. He will have a hard time running through tacklers at the NFL level. He does have excellent hands and as long as he is a willing blocker and is a good special teams player I could see him making an NFL roster.

This may also portune well in regard to AP. I could see him thriving in the run and pass game under JS, and even if TT gets that extra year, there will be plenty of carries to go around. I'm a little confused. Did you mean portend?

I think portune refers to my inability to tune a guitar.

But then I also saw L Bell of the Steelers...

Ryan was a helluva player at OSU. I wish the best. I’ll root for him nfl if he makes it.
What the Beavs need are “BALLERS”.... not necessarily high star recruits. We need Kenny Simontons...... Jonathan Smiths..... Richard Sieglers.... those types. We need leaders.
Ryan is a good kid..... ............

I'm a little confused. Did you mean portend? Don't pretend to portend your portune's fortune in Portland Note a portune's fortune is winning $1 when powerball is $440M Spoken like a guy that plays lottery every week.....

My lasting view of RN will be him returning to the sideline after another td against the quacks and pretending to shoot ducks out of the sky. That kid showed up for the Civil War.
Go Beavs!!

Hope he makes it but I don't think he is athletic enough to be a RB in the NFL despite his measurables and his performance level with the kind of OL he had here.

How different is Nall from a guy like Matt Asiata? Seems pretty comparable and Asiata was pretty damn good for a while - and is still in the league. Nall might even have been a Toby Gearhart behind a solid line.
Regardless - best of luck to Ryan, he represented our university well.
Go Beavs!

Certainly going to miss him. Think the opportunity exists for him to have a versatile Rathman/Alstott-type career at the next level if he can gain the necessary weight without losing quickness. Could also see him deciding to get Lorenzo Neal/Tony Richardson big and have a nice career as a traditional fullback.

Don't get me wrong, I like Nall - but guys like Rathman or Alstott or Lorenzo Neal wanted to obliterate LBs. Nall wants to juke them/out run them - just a completely different mind-set & style. Not sure it can be taught at this point. I do think his versatility will be key though - catch some passes, run a little bit, BLOCK and contribute on special teams.

I called him China Doll Nall since he got injured so many times. If he can head into the combine in good health, why not go now? RB's are Not For Long when it comes to pro careers and sometimes for college ones as well.
We got lucky when Stanford's stud RB was MIA. At least losing Nall is hardly a crippling blow to our team since we were in such dire shape anyways. Now there will be more room in the backfield for playing time and with no set star RB in hand, it could make it easier to sign a HS stud since recruits can see themselves able to compete for a slot with a decent chance of making it on the field.
I'll call this move a win-win for Nall and OSU.
