I don't pay attention to other Pac-12 teams until the conference season begins.....but now it has.
Looking in on UDub: - coached by ex-LBSU coach Jody Wynn: I was impressed with her squad last season during the tournament, her well coached team gave us everything we could handle in the opening round game and almost pulled off the upset. - have lost most of their brand names from last season in Osahor and Plum. Romeo is a senior. Seems like a young roster otherwise. - is Khayla Rooks related to Sean of UA/NBA fame? - leading scorers are a guard (Amber Melgoza) and a forward (Mai-Loni Henson) (they only have one identified Center on the roster) - have played/lost to 2 ranked teams (tOSU and Texas - Texas handled them readily, tOSU game was a bit tighter) - lost their opener to Idaho State, along with Boise State, North Carolina, tOSU, Texas) - wins against BYU, Creighton, Idaho, Grand Canyon and SeattleU (in OT) - 6-5 overall coming in - interestingly, every player on their roster has started at least one game (not that I recognize many of the names)
What else should we watch for against the Huskies??
Go Beavers!

Even though they are picked to finish last I don't think anyone should fall asleep on them. They have a good coach and a solid floor leader in Romeo. If they are hot and their opponents have a bad night they could come up with an upset or two this year.
I'm so ready for this part of the season to start. But the insanely stupid starting times suck.

Romeo hasn't played all season and is out indefinitely for undisclosed medical reasons. Also, their star freshman guard Aarion McDonald from last year transferred to Arizona. ==== The University of Washington women’s basketball team is losing their star point guard. The Seattle Times reports Aarion McDonald is transferring out of the program.
McDonald was a Pac-12 All-Freshman team selection after averaging 9.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 28 games last year. She made 21 starts for the Dawgs and was the third leading scorer on the team behind Kelsey Plum and Chantel Osahor.
It’s a tough start for new head coach Jody Wynn, who was hired in April to replace Mike Neighbors after he left for Arkansas. She inherits a team that made three straight trips to the NCAA tournament, but with McDonald’s defection combined with graduation, has now lost 5 players from last years Sweet 16 squad.

I didn't know that, what a terrible situation for a head coach have. I guess I need to read up on it opponents better. Thanks for the correction

I didn't know that, what a terrible situation for a head coach have. I guess I need to read up on it opponents better. Thanks for the correction Yeah, the UW WBB team is unrecognizable vs last year. I don't recognize any of their top 5 scorers: Melgoza Henson Moser Collier (a different Collier, a 5'6 guard, no relation) Griggsby Still, they lost to #9 Ohio State by just 9 points, and Ohio State is a very good team. They had to go to OT to beat Seattle, though, on December 20th. Seattle TimesWynn’s first Pac-12 game will also be a new experience for many Huskies.
Only three (junior Hannah Johnson and sophomores Amber Melgoza and Mai-Loni Henson) of Washington’s 10 players have Pac-12 experience. Furthermore, Johnson and Henson are the only UW returners who played in last season’s only game against Oregon State — a 73-70 Husky loss at Gill Coliseum.
“I learned a lot just watching from the bench,” said Melgoza, who leads Washington with 15.4 points per game. “That was a good experience for me to see. Their crowd is loud. … And they have size. And they’re just good.
“Obviously, we’re a lot different. But if we get pressure on them and start getting on a roll, then it will affect them.”
