Beavers Open 2018 Ranked Second
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Oregon State baseball team will open the 2018 season ranked second according to Collegiate Baseball, which released its top 40 rankings on Tuesday.
The Beavers are three points behind No. 1 Florida, and one ahead of third-ranked Arkansas. Florida State and Texas Tech fill out the top five.
Oregon State finished the 2017 season ranked third after advancing to the College World Series, where the Beavers were one of four teams remaining. OSU set a school record with 56 wins – 31 of which came at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field – and the pitching staff led the nation with a 1.93 earned run average. That also set a school record, bettering the 2014 staff’s 2.28 mark.
Other Pac-12 Conference teams ranked in the top 40 include No. 14 UCLA, No. 24 Stanford and No. 36 Arizona. The Beavers will welcome the Bruins to Goss Stadium May 24-26, while the Cardinal will visit May 11-13. Oregon State heads to Tucson for a three-game series against Arizona April 6-8.
Oregon State fans may also get another ranked showdown at Goss Stadium when Cal State Fullerton comes to Corvallis March 9-11. The Titans open the year ranked 12th.
Lastly, the Beavers will head to Missouri State for a three-game series April 13 and 14 with a doubleheader scheduled for the first day. The Bears open 2018 ranked 22nd.
