Could we have the men's game first? The WBB team have set the bar high on playing the game the right way, so would be hard for even a really good, well-coached MBB team to match it.....
Just sayin'......I guess the past few years of both MBB misadventure and WBB excellence have altered my viewing preferences.
(I am so thankful I started paying more attention to WBB and less to MBB when the WBB team came from something like 21 down to beat uo (back in the Ali Gibson era), because the Beaver WBB team has brought much joy to the basketball component of my life in the SR era)
Go Beavers!

An interesting idea, but I wonder if the overall demographics of the current women's team fans makes it better for an earlier game? I say this because I'm much more likely to take my you girls to a women's game, but they're young enough that a 7PM start would a go/no go factor.

The men's game far outdrew the women's game.

The men's game far outdrew the women's game. Women's game notes say: "The contest marked Oregon State’s first ever women’s basketball game at the Moda Center, as the Beavers competed in the Dam City Classic before a crowd of 8,015." And the box score for the men's game says: Attendance: 8110 I was not there, and we all know that attendance is in the eye of the person doing the (ac)counting, but 95 more people or about 1% more reported would not be something I would characterize as "far outdrew". Go Beavers!

It was fun to see the teams back to back. I don't care what order they are in.

I was there as well. The men's game was louder and more crowded. Every year they lie shamelessly on the attendance figure. I imagine that they count every season-ticket holder as actually being there. In this case, they probably counted every walk-up ticket sold right up to 7:00 as an attendee of both games, so only the last few walk-up sales didn't count for both.

I told my dad the same thing, the ladies should be the featured game going second. Haha
While there were definitely a few more for the men's game, I was surprised at the turnout for the women. It was still pretty good! The game might be played at a little slower pace and closer to the ground, but the display of actual fundamentals was hard to miss and much appreciated.

I know the Moda Center might be a draw for players to play in, but it seems Memorial would have been much cozier/loud, and not a bad seat in the place... at least from long ago memory!

Unfortunately, the Memorial Coliseum is falling apart. They have put zero $$ into the place in 20 years. There are bad seats in the house, because the seats are actually falling apart.

They closed off the upper deck so the MC had a good atmosphere. If the lower bowl seats 12k or so, it was awfully close to being 2/3 filled.
Winterhawks had a game at the MCol on Saturday night.

I was at both......fun to watch the women play, but child please. I'll be the politically incorrect pig here and say it.....There is no comparison.....the men's crowd was way larger and enthusiastic. Give the men some credit...they're battling and figuring things out. Tons more exciting....that said, very impressive to see what Rueck has done with the Lady Beavs......

I used to avoid the women's games - "too far under the rim, not enough athleticism, etc....." But like my youngest sister, the all league and almost college player, you can tell that a lot of SR's team grew up "playing hoops with brothers in the driveway", as it were. It didn't matter in my family or in the neighborhood, those games were for everyone and no mercy was shown. Maybe there isn't the same level of raw athleticism, but can't say that it isn't just as exciting watching either of our squads. GO Beav's!
