Well said.. all that matters at the end is the W..no extra credit for style or victory margin.. would rather see OSU win 20 games just like this one than 10 pretty blowouts

St. Louis was a decent win, particularly since the've owned us. They have a win at VT this year, which was VT's only loss until they just lost a close one @kentucky. Plus, Drew and Stephen were apparently sick.
The last few wins were good for the RPI - well under 200 now. Kent State is likely to send it the other way regardless.
6-game win streak being over unrepeated for more than a decade speaks volumes about the state of the program.

Not sure what Kent State's RPI is at the moment, but it being a road game certainly won't hurt us. A good win there to get to 9-3 and I'd call this preseason a success, even if the schedule was one of the softest I've seen.

Didn't look at their RPI, but KenPom (see the officiating post) says they are #208. We are listed at #120 and the site gives Kent State a 42% chance of winning with a projected score of OSU 72 and Kent 70. Kent has a home game against Northeastern on Monday before playing OSU on Thursday. They have a 7-foot center with good stats when he's not fouled out or on the bench in foul trouble.

That's interesting about the KenPom projection, because ESPN's BPI gives US only a 28% chance of winning. Not sure where their formula for figuring that comes from, but I find that number hard to believe.

I turn on an ugly match, and it turned into a basketball game! This team's developing some mental toughness, and making good halftime adjustments. The opponent played a really awkward style and all the bricks from the foul lines....at least the games aren't boring!

Agreed, a wins a wins a win... but... MAN! We HAVE to figure out how to not have TEN MINUTE LONG scoring droughts.... It would also help if we shot better free throws... Especially the front end of 1 and 1's uuugggg. We have WAY too much talent to go even 2 or 3 minutes without a couple buckets... I wonder what the coaches go to slump buster plays are? Tinkle iso, Drew down low, pick and roll? Oh and don't get me started on Turnovers and Rebounds, smh If Drew was sick maybe that would explain the rebounds a bit... with all the bricks Drew should have had at least double digit rebounds and not 6.... I have no clue about any of the players on Saint Louis or the team in general... Are they at least pretty good? I understand they played a uptempo aggressive trap or something... Oh well, way to gut out a win beavs!

Oh also, big hat tip to Ethan Thompson tonight, I thought when things were swirling down the drain he was a real stabilizing force and held the fort down until the rest of the guys remembered they were playing in a Basketball game Also Ben Kone had he best shift as a Beaver probably... Becoming a rebound vacuum is a sure and best way for him getting some NBA time someday...

Drew was down in minutes, I think, because he looked like he was going to pass out, but that last 10 minutes or so he stepped it up and gutted it out, then probably went into the locker room and spent some time throwing up - just my opinion; when I have had that look, I was normally in bed under sedation. But he put things together just long enough to have a significant impact on the game at the end. And Kone came in and was a big positive too!

Really, Drew looked pretty bad off at times. He probably shouldn't have been playing. Kudos to him for toughing it out.
There was a moment he came off the floor looking bad, and Big G followed him off looking bad (both were playing at the same time) and my wife and I commented on it... must've been when Big G got hurt.

any "W" is still a "W" at the end of the day. Way to grit it out at the end. Six in a row. On to Kent State (before conference play begins). Go Beavs! Apologies if I missed it - but is there a particular reason why we're playing Kent State away? Seems like a long ways to go to face a team like Kent State...
