Last year Oregon was stunned when the state's top ranked recruit, Alex Molden headed north to play for Chris Peterson and the Huskies. His Dad was an All Pac-10 DB at UO and an NFL veteran. Secondary was an area of need for UO and Molden was one of the best corners on the west coast. That stung.
Now, after all five 4-star wide receivers recruited by Willie Taggert have decommitted, they lose the coveted South Medford wideout/free safety, Chase Cota. Cota's Dad Chad starred at UO and his cousin Brady Breeze is currently a DB on the Duck roster. Like Molden, Cota was thought to be a lock for the Oregon program.
Cota will play for Chip Kelly at UCLA.
The prized UO recruiting class has been frayed at the margins and with Taggart now firmly on board at FSU and in touch with some of his former pledges, the real unraveling is about to begin. Oregon's ship won't sink but they are going to be taking on some water between now and national signing day in February.
