Aleah was 1 for 5 from 3-pt range, KtMac was 1 of 4, Corosdale 0 of 3, Tudor 3 of 10, team overall was 28.6%. We can't reliably win games against good teams if we rely heavily on 3 point shooting.

I didn't see...how bad did we lose? Hopefully the girls can bounce back stronger next time out.

I didn't see...how bad did we lose? Hopefully the girls can bounce back stronger next time out. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that we lost. We destroyed them 84 to 36. I'm just saying that we can't rely on 3 pt shooting as much as we do. We need to be able to attack the basket more when the 3 ptrs aren't falling if we're going to handle Pac-12 competition. Gulich and Grymek combined for 15 of 19 from 2-pt land, fortunately. Outside of them and Pivec, the rest of the team overall shot about 25% (12 of 47) from the field.

Gotcha. Pretty impressive final score. Imagine if the shots were falling. %'s usually revert to the mean. I would rather have our off shooting nights against completion like this.

With 8000 simultaneous squeals reverberating around them, I'm surprised they could hit a three at all. Lee Trevino couldn't hit a 3-foot putt on a flat, wet green in those conditions.

Thanks to the largesse of jefframp, I was able to take my wife to the game. It truly is a fantastic thing for the community and youth that the Beavers do with this game.....the announced attendance was north of 8000, and it was noted that this was the third largest crowd ever to attend a WBB game at Gill. It was loud - no, really loud. Even the music, at least I believe that is what they call that cacophony on the PA, was cranked up - or maybe it was the 7000 youth singing along. The Beavers were frustrated - mostly with themselves, though Savannah State had some height and heft inside that made things a bit difficult. Thropay was particularly upset (3 fouls in ~30 seconds can't make anyone happy). As noted earlier, clean looks from the outside weren't falling. Once we focused on pounding the ball inside, things were better. Jo learned not to bring the ball down today (I would say the SS center was 6'4"ish, so she didn't have to bring it down much). Marie and Jo got leaned on pretty good inside, so working through that will pay dividends downstream. I would have liked to have seen more slashing to the basket, and the forward remains a concern. SR experimented with Jo low on the blocks with Marie playing the 4 (a'la the Ruth/Marie days) that worked pretty good. Taya got a lot of minutes today, and she boarded with some abandon......I see her starting soon. Not a really crisp game, but good to have to work through "one of those days" and still pummel the opponent. I suspect the Beavers will be back to their old selves Saturday at the Moda...... Go Beavers!
