JSU is a good team, possibly a tournament team. OSU did some good stuff, including:
--playing a team game by dishing out 17 assists to JSU's 6. --52% FG %age --44% 3pt %age --excellent defense to win out the game.
On the other hand, OSU needs to play MUCH better defense on free throws.

On the other hand, OSU needs to play MUCH better defense on free throws. Was invited to go but wasn’t able to. Mike Parker said today that JSU lost recently to Howland’s Mississippi St. team by a couple of points in OT or something in Starkville. This is as a quality win. Sounds like we shot the ball and must have moved it well. Was that the case? If we could consistently play hard on D and move the ball offensively, we might just attain that 16 or 17 wins that many said was possible at the beginning of the season.

IF this game is a portent to the future, and this team keeps jelling and coming together I do think we are an upper teens win team. Lets not crown Jacksonville some kind of giant or anything... but they were for sure a quality team and this is a quality win. That was a team we lose by 15 to last year. Stevie has had two solid games, which is good to see. Hopefully he settles into a much more consistent effort. His D is still suspect, but this is two high scoring game from him. Gotta give us something and he has. It was an overall scrappy effort. lots of ways we could of ran away with this game, and did not, but also lots of ways we could of crumbled and did not. Pretty amazing to hold them out for a minute plus. We won on D, which is something you'd not expect from our recent teams. I am very encouraged to see bench play, We played 9 tonight. Also. Damn, gotta hit those free throws, particularly those first side of one and ones. overall, thumbs up. This team is trying and improving and working on it's problem areas. That is all I honestly expect. Kudos all around.

This does bode well that this team should be able to handle at least the lower-half of the Pac, at home anyway. That was a grind-out win - not something we've seen much for this crew to date. Hollins manages to get all his fouls in over 14 mins - his minutes average might still be where it currently should be Solid game from Manual - we needed him on O and he stepped up. Surprised Stacy didn't see the floor, but I assume it was because Manual was playing well.

Wins are nice and I saw some improvement in play, but defense intensity wasn't there (except in the last minute), the FT shooting was pathetic (lost 8 -10 points there); ball movement was slow and rebounding needs improvement. A close hard fought win like that should help. This could be a contender for a higher standing in the PAC 12, but so far its a slow process.

I thought the on ball D and overall intensity was the best it's been all season. Lots of hands tipping balls in the passing lanes and better closing out on shooters. Still some breakdowns with not blocking out and with help defense but generally this was good effort i thought.

Especially first half, dribble penetration killed us - they got in the lane whenever they wanted (especially Drumwright), points in the paint reflected that. McLean (was it Don McLean?) pointed to several examples of ole' defense and things that need to be tightened up before P12 play. Nice to see them pick up intensity in the end though, also great to get a W with relatively quiet nights from Tres/Drew. Did I hear that this is longest winning streak in 13 years?

It wasn't pretty and still more improvement needed, but this was a nice, hard-fought win. Was very impressed by the D late and them not fouling. Now the offense last couple of minutes was terrible. It is becoming apparent that dribble penetration is going to be our downfall all year. Not sure if it is quickness or lack of effort, but they just can't keep ball handlers in front of them. Do they go to more zone or do they rely on help defense and active hands to overcome this deficiency? Not really sure.

2 of Hollins fouls were moving screens....thought both were total bs. Quality win, you bet JSU was a good team. Defensively we scrapped...Drumwright would breakdown any guard in the PAC12, quick and strong so no knocks there. Need to improve FTs and boxing out (8 offensive rebounds first half) were ugly. Hopefully the improvement continues.

All too many times over the last several years the Beavs would have given that game away. It seems like they are learning how to generate offense when they need it. Agree D intensity needs to ramp up - and DAMN................. FREE THROWS.

Hopefully the improvement continues. Yes, we still gave up some drives, but the thing that I liked about our D was our guarding of the 3 point line. They had to make some very tough, highly contested 3's in the first half. We kept guarding the 3 pt line in the second half and they only had one 3. This is in contrast to previous games where we would leave 3 pt shooters wide open throughout the game. We made Hunter and Drumwright take very tough 3 pt shots. I would rather give up some drives then get constantly burned by 3 pointers.

For sure.. it wasn't very good tonight yep, other teams had held them to 66%, and we give up over 90% - atrocious, I'm telling you!!!! That was a very solid win, having fight down the stretch and not break down. The last 20 seconds took a heck of a long time to finish tho, and when you are cruising down the freeway, you do not need that many distractions!
