He played half the game, scored in double figures, rebounded, and looked like he played good defense. It says a lot for the future of our basketball program when you see freshmen doing that.

Wayne chewed him out late in the first half when UAPB was making a run. He didn't close out on a shooter on B2B possessions which led to two 3s, but he seemed to respond really well after that. I've enjoyed watching Hollins every time he sees the floor, he's athletic and he plays hard. He's a good scorer too and can shoot the ball a little bit even though we haven't seen him take a ton of shots yet. It would not surprise me in the slightest to see him start challenging for a spot in the starting 5 or at the very least a 6th man role.

He looks like a versatile player who is able to play both inside, or on the perimeter. His game is energy and as long as he keeps that going he should see plenty of court time. I see good things in his future.

Eubanks, Berger, Hollins up front with Tres and Ethan in the back court?

He certainly can't keep a two in front of him. Hollins is a much better defender, both man and at the top of the 2-3. Personally I'd love to see Tres as the top of a collapsing 1-2-2... funneling then sinking to a 3-2/2-3. also can trap out of this and still keep three bigs in the game. Although athletic I just don't see this team being able to play m2m for significant stretches vs most Pac12 teams. But, adapting/switching zones can take advantage of that athleticism. I'm not sure Stevie's ego can take coming of the bench, but he's the streaky type that could thrive in that scenario.

That would mean dropping Berger from the starting 5 or having Hollins come off the bench before Gregori. Any word on N'Daiye? Didn't he get a medical redshirt?

My bet is that Hollins doesn't take Berger's spot, but he'll have games where he gets more minutes than the starter. He'll start next year.

Hollins is a better scorer than Berger, and need that and his energy coming off the bench. Plus Hollins has shown a propensity for fouling (a foul every 4.5 minutes), so he might be better off coming off the bench.

It hasn't been pretty to watch so far this season, but when it comes to our bench - a year ago it was some combination of Matt Dahlen, Big G, N'Diaye, Daine Muller, a couple cameos from Keondre Dew (remember me?), Stacy and Sanders. I'm really glad that's over.
And Stacy has actually been a bit of a surprise which after looking at the stats I guess is really saying something because he's shooting 3 for 10 and has 4 assists w/8 turnovers. LOL.. nevermind. But he was fiery that one time!

Stacy had a bad game on Saturday. Otherwise he's been fairly solid.

Yeah, Stacy made 2 turnovers pretty close together on Saturday and I don't think he saw the floor again. If he can give us 3-4 decent minutes a half he's doing his job. He does rebound well from the guard position and has made some nice passes. When he plays within himself, he does a fairly good job; but he just tends to get too fast, which accounts for many of his turnovers and missed shots.

Stacy had a bad game on Saturday. Otherwise he's been fairly solid. He's solid defensively, but he still can't shoot. In addition to Hollins off the bench, they are going to need a guard that can come off of the bench and score. I was hoping Manuel could improve enough to fill that role, but so far he can occasionally hit a wide open 3, but that's about it. We are going to need another bench scorer from somewhere. Maybe Reichle can improve enough to help out.

Let Hollins start and set the tone with defense then Stevie comes in and has the green light and break the zone. Beavs have a thin bench now. As soon as Eubanks, Tink or Stevie goes out, the leads seem to evaporate. It would be nice to bring some scoring firepower off the bench for the conference tilts. But yeah i don't expect that to happen with Daddy Ball.

But yeah i don't expect that to happen with Daddy Ball. So for a team that has turnover issues, you are suggesting that we only start one guard that's a true freshman? I don't get where the Stevie bashing is coming from. I know someone reported some hearsay that he was getting favorable treatment, but I don't see it. He has played much better the past few games, improved his defense, and he is starting to hit 3's. He is also currently a better ball handler than Ethan. If you are going to bring Stevie or Ethan off the bench, you would have to start Stacy. The problem with that is then you have 2 starters that are limited offensively (Berger & Stacy). I like starting Berger because he does not make a lot of mistakes and he plays good team basketball. He's just is not much of a scorer.
