In the post-game press conference, one reporter asked Scott to compare this year's team with last year's. I'm at work and can't access the video, but as I recall he made the following points.
- Last year's team had more experience - both the highs and the lows. - But last year's team had to win with defense. This year's team has more ways to score and can win with offense, as well. Of course, defense will always be our trademark. - This team will have the opportunity to win in every game.
He didn't quite say that this team is as good as last year's team - Scott just doesn't make those sorts of statements - but he seemed to be pretty happy with how things are shaping up.

Very fun team to watch, but let's insert a dose of realism here - Our RPI at the moment is 100. It will likely drop before it rises, given where the Savannah States of the world reside. While our contests with ranked opponents were "close losses" for us, and will be the moral equivalent of the Marquette game last year, this team needs to put all the learnings in place during the Pac-12 season. Last year's team played (comparatively speaking) stifling defense and struggled on O, this year's edition has scored at will against competition that has landed us at RPI 100, but scored ~20 points less against demanding competition. I am not sure this year's team could match last year's defensive intensity, but scoring will come easier to this team. We still have a question at the 4 spot (would not be surprised if Corosdale is starting soon), need to be better at breaking the press, passing could be crisper, and rebounding needs to improve. OK, after that dose of realism, I am really enjoying the season thus far, and look forward to the conference season. I suspect we are watching a masterful job of bringing a team oozing with potential along, and we could be on the cusp of a special season yet again...... Go Beavers!

An off topic question. Is the Savannah State game the "kids" game? I want to make sure I do not tune in for that one. It is ear splitting what they can do

Yes Wednesday is the beavers beyond the classroom game. I'm happy for the little ones. It must take tremendous focus to play before that crowd. My kids have been to a three of these games. Last year, sadly, school got bumped by weather. It's a blast and three quarters, and my daughter loves watching the women play, as she puts it, "for us kids!"
