I have been trying to see how AA and PM are doing now that HS ball has commenced. I did see some scores where Ribet crushed schools like Whitney in the San Marino tournament, but box scores require a MaxPreps account..... I did find this article on FB, which says that AA's move to Ribet was necessitated by student visa requirements. Plenty of basketball related pictures on the FB page as well, with some of AA's NLI ceremony with her in Beaver gear (some teammates headed to CSF and an Ivy League school as well), and in one picture it appears AA is #22. None of her on the court, however. EDIT - actually, I did find some pictures on this web site: Well, hopefully AA can move to Corvallis next summer, and find 4 years of stability, education and championships. Go Beavers!

Good find. I'm not sure it was her family that found Ribet though, seems more likely they had some assistance from the Morris family. Either way she is in a much better situation than NJ.
It sounds to me that the issue wasn't her but the school she was at, which doesn't surprise given there were accusations of illegal human trafficking.

2ndGenBeaver - thanks for the post on AA....I have been trying to locate info on her game for several weeks and have pretty much come up empty handed....The shortage of info about her game is a bit confusing to me..
I have read several comments on the SoCal WBB forum about Ribet, and I have seen a few game summaries and write-ups from this season. But none of them have had any comment about AA. The brief story I read the other day (sorry, didn't keep track of links) spoke about college scouts in the crowd who came to see Ribet's point guard..But no mention of AA.
Now, it's early in the BB season so this is no big deal - - sorta !! The lack of info about AA this far into the season is vexing - she is an unmistakable physical presence on the court and even if she is not performing well, or living up to her once # 6 ranking, that IS news. Shutting her down would be news. Beating HER team would be news.
Add this to the fact that no one seems able to locate anything about her summer basketball performance and we seem to have a virtual vacuum of information about AA's game since she departed NJ. I'm just kinda talking out loud here, but this lack of information is really unusual for a high profile talent. Especially one with all of her talking points - she's a sports writer's dream story. One final tidbit. Of the dozen or comments submitted to the SoCal WBB forum about Ribet's current team, not a single comment about AA.
Somehow her performance in 2017 summer ball, and now her performance in 2017 HS ball at Ribet has gone virtually unreported - - by anyone, including Robert Academy itself. Not weird. But certainly interesting.

Ribet Academy mascot is the Fighting Frogs. Now that is funny. Not only that: The founder was a FRENCHY! Frog legs, etc. "Ribet, Ribet!" Ribét Academy was founded by French-born Jacques Ribét in 1982 with the goal of creating a diverse and challenging atmosphere that would support both academic achievement and personal growth.Maybe some beaver fan in the LA area can go watch her play tonight at Burroughs (home of the "Burros") in Burbank and give us a report? (From the score below, looks like Norco must have had a bad shooting night....) Prep Girls Basketball
Canyon 73, Norco 3
Rachel Bowers and Gabby Sanchez each logged double-doubles in the team’s third-round win at the Burroughs Tournament.
Bowers had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Sanchez had 14 points to go with 12 rebounds. Brook Mitchell had 15 points on five 3’s. Talia Taufaasau added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Canyon takes on undefeated Ribet Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Burroughs.

Odd things. Morris isn't listed on the RA roster but Aquino is. But on the team stats Aquino isn't listed as playing at all. In the photo's and video's Aquino is present, but not Morris. Strange.

The last time I checked (November) Morris was scheduled to play the 2017-18 season with Duarte High..The same team she played for last season...

The last time I checked (November) Morris was scheduled to play the 2017-18 season with Duarte High..The same team she played for last season... And here are Patricia's stats for the last 3 seasons at Duarte HS: www.maxpreps.com/athlete/patricia-morris/R6afoWqxEeS00gAmVebEWg/gendersport/girls-basketball-stats.htmAs a junior, averaged ~17 points, 12 boards and 3 blocks per game. But Duarte, wikipedia tells me, is a small town of ~21,000, so there might not be a lot of press attention lavished upon her, and even if so, we might not be able to consume much of it online. Go Beavers!

Ribet Academy mascot is the Fighting Frogs. Now that is funny. Now I want to go to a game just to see if the crowd supports the Fighting Frogs with chants of "Ribet! Ribet!" :-). <groan>. OK, more seriously, as 411500 points out, it does seem very interesting/strange/weird that AA is at this school but there has been no press on the topic. The story is all sorts of interesting (everything from the Griner angle to the human trafficking to budding superstar to Paraguay student does good to Pac-12 up-and-comer to......), but apparently not yet (maybe this time next year?). You would even think the GT or Eggers would see an opportunity.....but again, maybe when its a slow day at the office. That said, SLAM magazine Oct 2017 did a feature on her (but I have not been able to track said issue down). And that she is present and accounted for in team pictures but not in action shots, and that the team obviously celebrated her NLI signing (along with 2 other teammates). Note that the FB article indicates that at the high school level they are very talent laden - as any high school BB team with 3-5 D-I athletes on it is going to destroy the opposition (actually I will admit to not knowing much about HS sports, but I suspect if you fielded a team with 3-5 D-1 starters in the HS environment you would roll teams a'la UConn). I find it fascinating that we know so much more about a signee from the other side of the planet (Jazz Simmons) than AA. Look forward to that changing beginning this coming summer..... Go Beavers!

Thanks for posting that link - I learned that the Duarte Lady Falcons PA announcer Huisha Bush is also the LA Sparks PA announcer. So he has announced the names of at least 4 past or future Beavers in PM, Syd, Ruth and Jamie......should we take this as an auspicious sign? Go Beavers!

I have read several comments on the SoCal WBB forum about Ribet, and I have seen a few game summaries and write-ups from this season. But none of them have had any comment about AA. There is no way to link to the specific thread, but if you look at the November 7-ish thread on www.socalhoops.com/ re: Granada Hills beating Ribet, you will see some mention (among a lot of bickering) of that 6'9" big, with some mention of OSU being a rising program helmed by a great young coach (at least they got that part right): In Reply to: Re: Granada Hills beats Ribet! posted by duuude on November 07, 2017 at 21:53:45: GH locked down the 6'9" girl, Ribet lots of turnovers. GH out ran them, RIbet girls was tired and got frustrated and they made more turnovers. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ribet has the 7th best player in the nation! And she is 6'8ish! No excuses to lost to a city team : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :The more I get to watch their big the more I realize she's no where near talent wise from previous SS bigs. The likes of Higgins, Jones, Aubrey Knight, Odom and even Samuelson. She's just big but soft and limited footwork. Sorry but that's just the way I see it. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : You are absolutely Wrong! They have the second tallest female basketball player...IN THE NATION..who can dribble and shoot! That is ELITE!!...along with a whole group of 6'3 studs and a ball handling point guard. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : I hardly think what happens this season will have any impact on the 6-9" girl. She will sign on Wednesday with Oregon State, a rising program with a great young coach that will develop her at the next level. Or maybe that will happen at USC, depending if you believe the conspiracy theories. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Hard for her to develop at HS level when she is usually almost a foot taller than everyone she plays against, regardless of what school she went to. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : I talked to her a couple weeks ago between games and she seems like a very nice young lady. If you want to bash coaches, that is fine, they are adults. Leave the kids alone. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : She is a charming and delightful young lady and was very much take advantage of when she got to the East Coast. She's loving being in LA and has had some real community helping her out. She'll do just fine. Go Beavers! Go AA!
