MR joining the staff makes some potential transfer possibilities seem more likely.
Looks like we have a promising QB recruit for the future, but how does JS approach next season?
I believe Nebraska's QB Tanner Lee will graduate and be eligible to transfer and play right away this spring. He'd be a one and done, but that might be a perfect way to bridge the gap allowing guys to redshirt and develop.
He's physically impressive, experienced, and can spin the ball with a strong arm. I don't think he fits in Frosts plans, so he could be to us next year what McMaryion was to Fresno this year.
There are also a couple young 4 star QB's from Cali MR recruited who also may not be a fit in Frosts plans.
Who knows what JS's plans are for our offense, so it's hard to say they're a fit here either, but something to keep an eye.

Remember when Riley/Nebraska had a top 10 recruiting class going into the 2017 season? If I'm reading this right, it's down to 14th..in the Big 10, below Oregon State. So I'm guessing they lost a ton of commits after Riley was fired, no?
Any news on whether a few of those guys are looking OSU's direction? That would be a coup by Riley.

So, you're saying Luton isn't going to work out so well?

So, you're saying Luton isn't going to work out so well? I hope Luton recovers 100% and continues forwards like the injury didn't happen. That remains to be seen, and even if it does, are you willing to put next years success entirely on him with no plan B? That said, if ever Luton had a chance to develop, we now have the QB coaches and offensive minds on this staff to give him that chance. Tanner Lee on the other hand wouldn't just be an experienced guy to get us through next year, he's ready to blow up and could easily lead the nation passing in the right offense. A real game changer IMO, not just a fill in. Of course that all depends upon what JS's offense will look like. If the opportunity to grab Lee as a graduate transfer comes up it would be a no brainer IMO. (I wasn't sure if there was a touch of sarcasm in your post or not, kind of thought yes, but not sure ; )

I’d love for it to be the case, but the commits they had are likely the guys Riley historically tried to get at OSU but we always finished up as a bridesmaid on. Maybe they’ll take his calls, maybe we can get one or two, but don’t expect a huge influx of guys who committed to Nebraska to follow Riley to OSU just because Riley’s here. They like Mike, but they REALLY liked him because he was at Nebraska.

Wasn’t Tanner Lee his QB at Nebraska in 2017? If so, as I recall, he wasn’t great. Every game I watched he had multiple picks. Not saying he’s not a huge step up from DG but maybe we sniff KJ Carta Samuels first. He likely didn’t get in the game because Browning had such a great grasp on the offense (flaccid arm but great mind). Question is, is Lee better because he was the starter (perhaps there were just no better options?) or was KJ just stuck behind a great general?

You mean like every great OSU QB in their first year starting in a MR offense? lol Yes he threw some costly picks especially early on. Lee did make significant improvement as the season went along and was much more consistent. Finished 2nd in the BIG in passing yards. Pretty impressive for his first year in the offense and behind a porous O-line. He took a lot of shots. He ended up with 23 TD's to 16 INT's. Mannion's first year was 16 TD's to 18 INT's. Not an entirely apples to apples comparison since Lee is older than Mannion was and he had some starting experience from a couple years ago at Tulane. I watched him run Nebraska's two minute offense on the road at Purdue in the final drive of the game with Nebraska needing to score to win and not much time on the clock. Reminded me of Mannion's drive to win the game in the final minutes at Arizona in 2012.(Feels so foreign talking about conference wins let along road wins....been a long time) Both were drives of beauty capped with the winning score. JS may have different plans and want to come out of the gates in year one with the QB of the future and let him take his lumps while fans are little more patient.

That was only because it was early in the recruiting cycle and the roughly 8 to 12 commited was a large number for that early. They have not really seen alot of attrition with the coaching change. At the beginning of a recruiting cycle you can have 4-5 recruits commit in a couple of weeks and suddenly you are among the highest ranked classes. This why we constantly talk about the ranking only matters on signing, as I know you know. Having a highly ranked recruiting class can be very misleading if the class is going to be small (which I believe is the case for Nebraska) because the class is finished and all the other schools will add commits while the school that is done does not.
