So... you didn't care for his facts... they were meaningless to you... therefore you're a... Or just that your facts are better... making you an arrogant moron? Yes I tend have a broader and more complete view then TD passes rather than making excuses for mikes horrific last 5 years. I tend to consider ints, win/losses who is responsibile for the o line, you know who delivered the worst record for Nebraska in what 50 plus years. Move on little man. The smart money has. LMAO... cuz in your own mind what you "consider" really matters? Ya... you must live a truly pathetic life to enjoy trying to dismiss the coach and man MR has been. A man who's successes far exceed yours on any level. "Little man" and the syndrome associated with it fits your posts to a T. And, the "smart money" has little to do with you! Lol

Look in the mirror, little man. Sounds like Andersen promised you some of his big boy pants for Christmas or something, because you seem to want to defend him (how can anyone?) and pollute our board with revisionist babble about a great coach and man in Riley. Just let it go.

Your an angry little elf. I'm living quite nicely in early retirement as a result of setting higher goals in life rather than collecting a welfare check and hoping the state keeps up my Medicaid (or bringing back Mr nice guy). Just because you have no personal ambition, don't drag the whole program down with you lil boy. Maybe Santa will bring you a spine and some courage to take some risks in life. Lol... obviously "retirement" to you means mentally incompetent and unable to grasp simple technology! Lol From your text there only seems to be one person with anger issues posting. It must be that the majority of your 30+ posts reflect just how well your life is going. Lashing out on an anonymous message board is quite the "big boy" thing to do. Please tell us more about how you're deeply loving, a total success, were at the top of your field. Or any other BS that am insecure bully type makes up and posts to make himself feel better. Then top it off with another immature rant of nonsense that only proves otherwise. We're waiting... don't forget the double and triple posts... LMAO

Sounds as if Riley is definitely going to be an assistant on CJS' staff - assistant head coach and a position coach, but not a coordinator. QB coach seems most likely.
Who were all the people that Coach Smith named in his press conference?
Riley Erickson Nick Holt Robb Akey Chris Petersen
Am I missing anybody? Erickson has said that he's going to be around Corvallis but he's going to stay out of the way. Nick Holt is coaching linebackers for Purdue. Robb Akey is looking for a job after McElwain was fired from Florida.
I still think that Keith Heyward is the pick for DC, especially when Taggart leaves. He doesn't need a recruiter with California ties when he is working in Tallahassee. A number of my friends from high school who went to Oregon State have told me that they saw Jake Cookus with Smitty on the sidelines in Reser when Clackamas won the state championship. Trent Bray is reportedly in the fold. Everyone keeps talking about Inoke, I do think he's coming in to coach DL.
The million dollar question is still, "Who is going to run the offense?"
If you said Danny Langsdorf, I really don't think I would be mad...

Are three sources outside of all the imaginings on this thread on Riley? I'd call definitely more like possible. If he get a head coaching call he could consider it. I think just being in Corvallis would have a strong appeal against other non head coach jobs though.

None are published sources, however. I don't think that Riley takes just any head coaching position. After being fired from San Diego, Riley took a step back and worked as a position coach in the NFL, then interviewed with Stanford (didn't get the offer, they chose Buddy Teevens haha), interviewed and was offered by Alabama, which he held off on accepting because he wanted the UCLA job he was interviewing for, because he wanted to be back on the West Coast. UCLA hired Karl Dorrell instead (LOL) and Alabama had already moved on. He's at a completely different phase in life, and I think he's planning to retire in Corvallis. I'd be damn surprised to see him go take on another head coaching gig at this point.

MR goes all in... the idea he lost interest here is total fiction. He'll be a great asset to JS. He'll be excited and invigorated. To say anything less about him is just plain nonsense. And, IMHO, anyone posting negatives is now undermining Smith's regime and should go crawl under any rock that fits.

We have a great hire in Smith that by and large the fanbase is extremely excited about. We should all get on board and trust CJS.

I think that there is a realistic chance that Riley joins the staff. I'm wondering if he may coach on the defensive side of the ball. He has done a lot of that in his previous lives and there would be less chance to be stepping on each other's toes.

BMOC cannot listen to an opposing view that some, if not many would prefer we move on without him. You are quite the socialist. Since when do you boys think you speak for "by and larger" the fan base? Because that is you view and a handful of others that visit this Board? Is that how you build up your self esteem? Get a life Who are your top 3 picks for QB coach?

"We should all get on board" to you is equivalent to "I speak for the fanbase as a whole and will not permit anyone else to have an opposing viewpoint, get to goose stepping you commie bastages". Is that about right? See, the difference between you and me is that I don't mind a bit if someone disagrees with me. I may choose to voice my opposing opinion, I may choose to disagree with your opinion. I may even tell you that your opinion is stupid, if it is. You're welcome to do the exact same with me. What I will not do is lower myself to your level and engage in ad hominem attacks. You call me "BMOC" and I could retort that you are an insecure twat, but I won't. You call me "quite the socialist" and I could retort that you are quite the moron, but I won't do that either. I could choose to disparage your lack of self esteem and tell you to grow a brain in response to your "Get a life" but I also won't do that. No, instead I will ignore your petty personal attacks and simply say that I prefer to debate ideas. Here's some advice for how to do that in the future so that you can improve your posting content: Baseball: Anyone undermining Coach Smith should crawl under a rock Me: Actually that's a good point - this a good hire, we should be more supportive You: I don't think the opinion that we shouldn't hire Riley is undermining Coach Smith See how that works? Hope this helps.

Dissenting opinions are the only way to keep this place interesting. i, for instance, was hoping for a bigger name with more star appeal but now that JS is the coach, he seems like exactly the right guy for the job and any coaches he picks will probably be positive additions to the program. the only bit of awkwardness i feel about Riley coming back is he will be assistant coaching 5th year seniors who he head-coached as Redshirt Freshman. That seems odd at the major college level.

I do have an honest question to those who really follow the assistants world: Is Nick Holt the former assistant for the Huskies who had the "Electric" eyes. The man I'm remembering was about the most intense individual I have ever seen. The man looked wired and ready to pull a Woody Hayes at any time. If you were standing behind him and accidently bumped into him, I think his hands would be around your neck in a Heart beat.

I might be a little off on the name but, those who know will know who I mean. Hints: Stiffmiester - ? Stiffler's Mom - ?
