They aren't afraid to play big boy football with an H back in the backfield or two TE sets.
Meaning no offense at all, especially since I like the great majority of your posts, but "big boy football" is a phrase I don't ever want to hear again. lol it was facetiously directed at the previous regime. You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk

Fire Cory Hall. Thanks, but no thanks.

Not sure about the snap but I remember Smith pointing somewhere downfield with both arms.

I remember that too. Might have been letting his receivers know the D was in "cover two." Two deep safeties.... I dunno. Good memories.

Priority: 1) Put out the Dumpster Fires 2) Keep the keepers you want there 3) Bring in new blood and JC talent 4) Bring back the swagger

Fire Cory Hall. Thanks, but no thanks. Why? If Cory had just been a DB coach I’d say give him an interview and see where it goes. As interim head coach it may be time to cut him lose. Whichever players walk because of it probably would have been more likely to listen to Hall than the head coach... not exactly a healthy situation. I could see the argument for letting Hall go. Better to be all in with the new staff than Hall in.

If I had to guess, I'd wager Smith is gonna shoot for some sort of passing spread. an evolved Erickson offense. Single back spread offense of some kind. I sure hope so.
That would be awesome.
But I have a feeling it will be more Chris Petersen based than Dennis Erickson based. It's what he's lived and breathed for the past 5 years. The good news about that is Washington lines up under center quite a bit relatively speaking. They aren't afraid to play big boy football with an H back in the backfield or two TE sets.

Better to be all in with the new staff than Hall in. When the current players initially expressed support for Hall and when the team had decent showings against Stanford and Colorado, I was thinking it was a good idea to retain Hall. He has a great personality.
When he talked smack about the yucks before the civil war, which I (and the uo players and coaches) think directly contributed to that unholy rout, I was disappointed and began to lean heavily toward letting him go.
But the real reason I would let Hall go is because I want OSU to have a fresh start. Andersen's stint here was nothing short of a travesty and I would like the stink of it to be as completely erased as possible. That includes Hall.

The thing I like about Petersen's UW teams is they play hard, with an attitude, but also have consistently been among the least-penalized teams in the Pac-12. Penalty yardage has decreased every year he's been there. Maybe as they get better fewer penalties get called on them, but I think it has something to do with establishing his culture, etc., over time.
2014: 61.9 ypg (4) 2015: 50.1 ypg (6) 2016: 44.9 ypg (1) 2017: 35.2 ypg (1)
If CJS can bring that play hard, play clean approach here, great. Yeah, I know about the cheap shot on Marcus Wheaton, but the numbers indicate UW didn't get too many PFs.

Media directly asked JS if he was going to bring back the swagger that the 2001 team had. He said, "Well, yeah, but we also had 20 penalties in the Fiesta bowl" So I think he is all about that play with swagger, but also no penalties

I'd like to see them get rid of the hand clap and go for something much more advanced, like the Macarena. Just think what the defense would do the first time they saw that. Y M C A
