Get rid of that stupid clapping hike thing. In all seriousness best of luck to coach!!! And go under center some of the time... and maybe hand a ball off to a RB going north/south versus east/west!

If I had to guess, I'd wager Smith is gonna shoot for some sort of passing spread. an evolved Erickson offense. Single back spread offense of some kind. I sure hope so.

I think convincing Nall, Tyner, and Evans (even if it'd only be for 6 games) to stay, getting our current commits to stay, adding a few new commits (and especially a handful of JUCO guys), and about a 1000 other things would be bigger priorities.
Clapping to signal the snap is no different thanking any other cadence, not sure why anyone would care how they decide to tell the center to snap the ball.

That would be awesome.
But I have a feeling it will be more Chris Petersen based than Dennis Erickson based. It's what he's lived and breathed for the past 5 years. The good news about that is Washington lines up under center quite a bit relatively speaking. They aren't afraid to play big boy football with an H back in the backfield or two TE sets.

It will be fun to see a hand-off to a RB who is actually moving instead of standing shoulder to shoulder with the qb counting 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi ok now GO!! Never understood how that could be successful.
Go Beavs!!

Lots of teams have success with it so not sure why you can't find evidence of it working.

Not wanting a pissing match but I don't think I've ever witnessed qb/rb exchanges where both players were at a dead stop for a full count after the snap like I did this year. Most read/option plays take place on the run.

I'd like to see them get rid of the hand clap and go for something much more advanced, like the Macarena. Just think what the defense would do the first time they saw that.

Meaning no offense at all, especially since I like the great majority of your posts, but "big boy football" is a phrase I don't ever want to hear again.

One of the few things I liked during the Pettibone years is that they occasionally ran a dive in which the RB was hitting the LOS in what seemed to be a millisecond. The delayed handoff, which is a staple of OSU's late offense, got old quickly.
