A couple key indicators that have already cost OSU games, and will lead to another frustrating year if they aren't corrected ASAP:
Turnovers Per Game OSU: 15.8 (ranked #284 in the country in turnovers and #296 in TO margin, best PAC12 team is ASU at #23) Opp: 13.1
Steals Per Game OSU: 6.1 (ranked #203 in the country in steals, Portland State is ranked #5 with 11.0 against a much tougher schedule) Opp: 7.8
-Tinkle leads the team with 2.8 turnovers per game, your Power Forward should not be leading the team in turnovers. -McLaughlin and Reichle both shooting 23% FG% and are a combined 2-20 on 3 pt shots. Ouch!
It looks like Berger started last game and McLaughlin was benched, which seems like a smart move. Maybe Berger's experience and defense can eventually settle this team down. Looking forward to having Kone back, maybe they can use more bigs and go inside first before chucking up an outside shot.
I noticed at PK80 how the good teams are all long and lean with steady point guards to get them the ball. Then when you watch OSU, UP, Long Beach, and others you see teams that aren't even close athletically. Gonzaga and uo have managed to recruit those long lean athletes, Beavers not so much. And we should all be relieved that PSU is not on the Beavers schedule this year.

Tinkle needs to fix the turnover problem, but I am also not surprise he leads the team as we force feed him most of the game and he draws double teams. Stevie also is posting 2 turnovers per game, and as a SG and a perimeter player, that is particularly bad. He is also shooting .212 from 3pt land.
as to your last sentence, I agree. We need to fix our guards. their play has been the sore spot. Steals per game? well that is our guards. 3pt percentage? guards. assists per game? guards. we have a 14.5 Assist to 15.8 TO ratio.
mostly guards.

Hey... on the bright side... that's triple what Stevie was shooting!

Our primary guards (Stevie/JMcL) are combo guards, neither of which pass or handle the ball particularly well.. Or shoot..jesus...or play defense. That's actually the worst kind of combo. Now I'm depressed.
Given that our recruiting class was all bigs, there's no help on the horizon so they really need to step up in a big way!
They could also all use a tutorial on alley oops since most of the lob passes to Drew end up either hitting the rim / wide right / over the backboard. Basically anywhere but in Drew's hands. Maybe we call up GP to teach a class. He connected on a few to Shawn Kemp if I remember correctly. Our success rate on alley oops to Drew has to be about 7.4%*.
* No actual stats to back this up.
On the bright side, kudos to WT for adjusting the line-up. Hopefully this means more Hollins as the season progresses #FreeHollins.
Let's take care of the ball and get another win on Saturday!

I agree the look of this team here is not very fashionable. Robinson's recruits looked better getting off the bus but seemed to be deficient in basketball IQ and fundamentals. It's weird how the on floor product is indistinguishable from Craig Robinson's teams despite different coaches and different players.
