...how happy I am that Andersen is not our coach anymore.
...how happy I am that the only really good thing that Andersen did was leave the money behind.
...how quickly I would take the two guys that coached OSU while I was in school--Kragthorpe and Pettibone--over Andersen.
...how disappointing it is to know that Cory Hall talked sh!t all week about uo and that got humiliated on the field.
...how glad I am to know that at this very moment, OSU is moving on from the three of the worst years in program history.

I agree with your sentiments. I was also disappointed that we publicly trash talked our opponent during the week. I guess maybe I am old school but I think you should be respectful of your opponent, at least in public. Fans talking trash is fun and part of the rivalry and players can say what they want to get motivated behind the scenes. What the Beavs did was no better then when former duck cliff Harris referred to us as "little brother". And if you are going to talk trash you sure as hell better be in a position to back it up.

The whole episode from last Sunday to today is a big disappointment. I know you want to get the players ready for the game but that is crazy. To trash talk and break huddle with f$#k the ducks is pathetic considering you are 1-10 going into the game. That and you should have been 0-11.
This just tells me Hall was no where near ready for the head coaching job. You have to set a good example as a coach and that wasnt a good example.

This is insane guys. There are numerous people on this board that have “ftd” as a signature on their posts. There’s a post using every derogatory adjective in the thesaurus to describe their football team. We LIVE to hate the Ducks. The biggest trash talk I heard was us saying they put on raincoats last year. How that became a serious trash talking issue is beyond me. It’s not like that was breaking news. We’ve been talking about that since the game ended last season.
We had a coach trying to motivate his team any way he could. I don’t think Cory Hall is (or ever was) the answer, but it’s not because he tried to fire up his obviously overmatched team going into a rivalry game. The spread was 25. 69-10 sucks, but 55-30 wouldn’t feel much better.

Saying that slogan all week as your very public mantra for a HS would be embarrassing and prob a fireable offense. Hall came off as a classless AH.

This isn’t high school man. Yeah if you’re cussing and encouraging a bunch of minors to cuss, you probably need to dial it back a little.
However, I’m not naive enough to think that high school coaches aren’t swearing at practices on the regular.
Put it this way: if he’d closed every practice with something like “what season is it?” And the kids responded “hunting season!” And then he said “and what do we hunt?” And everyone yelled “DUCK!” And everyone hooted and hollered, that would provide as much if not more bulletin board material than a simple “f*ck the Ducks” chant.
Cussing is a pretty low brow form of motivation in my opinion and I’d prefer that our coaches not break the huddle with a profanity in plain view of the media either, but to say he came off looking like a clown is way too strong a reaction.

No one said swearing didn't exist. But "hunting season" would certainly be sophomoric not bulletin board material. HS, college a public "eff you" mantra is unintelligent, immature, and a sign of desperation to try and motivate by any means. You have your take... most professionals would disagree. That crap is classless.

most professionals in what? Certainly not football.
I didn't really mean to get in a fight with you dude. I agree that it's not the right way to go about closing a practice. I'm generally in agreement with your posts and your sentiment, though I strongly disagree with the way you chose to make your points. My issue is with people calling out Hall for being vocal about his dislike for the Ducks when they themselves go out of their way to put them down or anything along those lines. I get what you're saying about it being different coming from a head coach and being reported in the paper vs. a message board, but if the other team is looking for motivation, they can find it either place. I'm sure posting a bunch of message board posts from us around their locker room would have the same effect, though I contend that if you need someone else putting you down to motivate you, you're probably not very good to begin with. Hall could've kept his mouth shut, talked about how much respect he had for Taggart and UO all week, and we still would've lost 69-10, I firmly believe that. It's not like Royce Freeman thought about just going down in a Brandon Arnold arm tackle, then remembered "wait, they said "f*ck the Ducks! I'm taking this one to the house!" And it cuts both ways too....Maybe we play even less inspired if Hall preaches peace and love all week and respecting your opponent.
Swearing is an art form....use it infrequently and correctly and it can be extremely effective in magnifying the humor or anger or emotion you are trying to convey. Use it too often and in the wrong context, and it just makes you sound like an idiot. We used to call Gary Andersen "Gary A$$dersen" during the 2015 season because of his overuse of the word during episodes of The Drive. I remember him saying things like "Let this one burn in your ass for a long time" and "man your ass up and ball your ass out" with regularity. It made him sound like a moron. I think there was even an episode where he visited his mom in Utah and she told him as much. Hall might've gone to the "FtD" well a few too many times during the week. Doing it once might've been effective. Doing it every day in view of reporters was probably a real bad move on his part.
