It is early in the season to be sure so it is always more difficult to evaluate with less data. Here is what I see so far.
1. We need a point guard. With one not coming in the next recruiting class, that doesn't bode well for the Beavs. McGlaughlin is a decent all around player but lacks quickness to penetrate and dish. I feel he would make a better 2 guard.
2. Tres Tinkle gives us points. The turnovers he commits, soft defense, little rebounding and trying to be too fine at times negates the points or at least reduces the net production to a small positive margin. Some of that is not his fault as he is playing out of position at the 4. He is a small forward/perimeter player because of his finesse type skills and body type.
3. Stevie Thompson gives us good offense but has to dominate the ball to do it. He is forced to handle the ball as a point but is not a natural passer. Has a very good shot/touch and natural scorer. Defense is soft.
4. Nathan Thompson has the best potential on the team. Good shooter and good defense for a freshman. Just not enough opportunities to score yet. Has more quickness than his older brother.
5. Eubanks. great physical potential. Haven't seen the development I had hoped for. Basically the same player as he was when he was as freshman skill-wise but with more strength.
6. Reichle has some skills but doesn't see much time on the court yet. Stacey, Big G, Manuel (although will get a few 3s out of him) Ndyeih (spelling I know) are not Division 1 Players and should not be on scholarship. Is Tanner Sanders still playing? Jury is still out on Kone but has been out for a while now. The clock is ticking and time passing now into his sophmore year and he has been fully healthy yet. I say redshirt him and give the kid a chance to get healthy.
5-27 last year and now in Tinkles 4th year. He should have his roster loaded by now. Does he?Next year Two average bigs (3 stars). and one practice player in Kelley. Plus no point guard. My prediction is 12-14 wins this year. Same for next year. Emotional coaches rarely succeed in the long run. Maybe more suited for smaller school. Sorry but have to call it like I see it.
