Omaha or Bust. The players are expecting it too.
The bar is mighty high this year, but I really like our odds.

I don't know how the chemistry will work out or how the breaks will fall, but I can tell you that this is a very impressive group of players and coaches and Omaha is certainly a possibility.

At this time without a pitch being thrown I see us with having enough offense, an potentially outstanding defense; but, being in one of the toughest leagues in the country... having a bunch of "unproven" arms at this level, and arms trying to come back the key will be finding our weekend starters and the 'key'' relievers. We have always reloaded on the mound, but this league is never "down". As cliche as it sounds, we'll go as far as our overall pitching takes us.
What is scary to me is we do not have that returning "automatic" stud/#1 we typically have. We have tons of potential arms, but at this point throwing strikes/getting outs is my biggest unknown... not really a concern based on the track record.

Supers for me. Omaha would be great, but like stated above, we don't have a true super stud though Drew is close. If he takes it up a notch, Jake thompson returns to form and Martinek lives up to his billing, we could be very tough to beat and Omaha bound. If none or only one of those things happen, I'd be happy with Supers. Next year we could be very good again.

Supers is realistic expectation, Omaha is a realistic goal.
Omaha takes either a superior team, or a team that gets a few breaks.
You just never know...
The UM SR where the UM pitcher throws a one hitter in game 1; normally that is a guaranteed loss, but he loses 1-0 and the Beavs go to Omaha. We were offensively pathetic but got the key hit at the key time.

Don't need a returning stud pitcher to get to Omaha. You need a freshman whose name is Reyes or Moore. If we have one of those, better start making your reservations for Omaha.

My expectation? Play ball. Play smart. Go deep in the count. Hit behind the runner. Use your speed on the basepaths. Be strong up the middle. Defend well. Limit your bonehead plays. Have fun. Enjoy each day
So sayeth Kevin Costner
The rest will take it where it takes us.

Name the "Omaha" year we did NOT have a stud #1? The great frosh are great, but would not have carried us pitching as our #1s. Our best staffs have always had an experienced stud... some had two!
