If you were a 16- or 17-year-old female basketball recruit who is considering a scholarship offer to play basketball at Oregon State University, might the video below taken during the pregame introductions on Sunday leave a positive imprint as to what attending college in Corvallis and playing in front of 7,570 rocking fans would be like? That sure didn't sound AS loud as 7,570 people SHOULD sound (especially for a game against such a high profile opponent). I realize 6,000 of them may be 60+ ... but still.
Just sayin'
maybe it’s your cellphone speaker?

maybe it’s your cellphone speaker? I don't use a cell to web surf and my volume level is just fine. Maybe your cellphone speaker makes it sound louder than it actually is. “I don't use a cell to web surf and my volume level is just fine.” You’re still using a video clip recorded on a cell phone condenser mic (designed specifically to filter loud external sounds) to throw shade on fans at a game you didn’t bother to attend. Pardon my language but that’s just dumb - and pointless.

There's no defense against the output of 8000 prepubescent larynges reverberating in the concrete soundbox that is Gill. I still can't hear police sirens or parakeets, and it's been two years since I went to one of these. On the plus side, now my wife always sounds like she is using her "bedroom voice". Next time ND plays at Gill, let's make that the Field Trip game. Win or lose, their ears will be bleeding.

Pardon my language but that’s just dumb - and pointless. I'm not throwing anything. I'm just saying it was a great crowd in number, but nothing special at all volume-wise during the player introductions. Most were simply clapping and nothing more than that. Sunday morning’s WBB crowd was awesome - without qualification. Our home crowd is the envy of every one of our PAC-12 WBB competitors and all but a handful nationwide. Those that actually attended and supported the team in person deserve our appreciation. They are the BEST Beaver fans you will find anywhere.

At the women's games, fans are more active - they actually pay attention to the band and cheerleaders and clap and dance along. People bring signs - which you rarely see at the Mens' games. The womens' fans seem to have more fun, and it's certainly a more family-friendly environment. They might not be as loud during the intros, but they maintain the noise through the game way better than the Mens' crowd.

"They might not be as loud during the intros, but they maintain the noise through the game way better than the Mens' crowd." I'm with you on that one. Of course, there are the practical factors: The women fans have a LOT more to cheer about during the course of a game and they have a significantly greater chance of collecting a win at the final buzzer. After all, what enhances crowd atmosphere more than the anticipation of victory?
