Love how after the first game OSU won the biggest thread about it was about the refs and had like 10+ comments and a few threads with 1 or 2 comments about the actual game...
After one loss to Wyoming we have a thread that's 6 pages deep and has 85 comments and counting..just find it humurous

Lol Not only a loss, but one that comes during a horrible football season and looks very much like the same ineptitude of last hoops season. Wow... again so funny!

Well part of that is that there was no game thread for the S. Utah game. At least first 3 pages of the Wyoming thread were during the game, so wasn't actually a loss at that time. But actually that is pretty common bulletin board to bulletin board. On the Illini board I frequent, game 1 thread, which we won handily, had 246 posts versus 334 for game 2 thread, which we barely held on to win. Game 1 postgame thread had 113 posts versus 164 for game 2 postgame thread. Guess fans like to bitch.

I think the problem is that Beaver fans are just plain sick and tired of the familiar pattern: 1.) a football season that sucks, 2.) followed by a men's basketball team that doesn't live up to (mis-placed?) hopes....[To think that two of this years squad actually declared for last seasons NBA draft... preliminary only]. My personal solution to this vexing annual pattern is to get 'wrapped up' in only TWO (2) OSU squads: Baseball, and Women's Basketball. Not primarily because they're winners, but rather that they both are characterized by a.) excellent coaching staffs, b.) high achieving athletes and c.) a teamwork first approach. Both squads are just plain fun to watch. Football, and Men's' basketball...not so much. By Thanksgiving dinner time, it should be obvious whether the distasteful pattern continues, or a better path is charted. Between now and then, MBB plays two games, both against teams that are currently 2-1. Both against teams that a GOOD team should beat.

I was thinking the same thing last night. I'm leaning to believe that to have that misconceived belief about your abilities will make it very hard to coach you.

OSU can't compete with Universities with (1) a richer fan base, (2) larger tv market, (3) a more interesting environment and (4) a more prestigious academic reputation.

This message board chatter is just that. 90% of us on here could meet for several drinks, disagree, call BS, laugh, and have a good time. 75% of the negativity on this board (as it truly is quite tame to most) comes from interpretation of the black & white without having the opportunity for context and delivery of personal communication. The other 25% is the "courage" created by anonymity. 😉
