I understand this to be a Ralph Miller rolling in his grave reference. Frustrating to see players on his court not engaged in defense.

Thanks Tigard Beav! wow thats some tasty long held jihad there. I was watching Tres and thinking about similarities to Brian Jackson. Mostly on the injury front. I really hope Brian jackson is doing OK. He got a raw deal with the "other" RM and Ralph Miller is probably who the OP was referencing. I was just slapping the low hanging fruit

After living in Oregon for virtually all my life, I moved to Spokane about 7 years ago.
It has been a true joy to watch the Gonzaga basketball team play. In terms of ball movement, defensive intensity ,and fundamentals they are a carbon copy in many ways of the great Ralph Miller teams.
As opposed to the Wayne Tinkle OSU squads, Gonzaga playing time is a privilege gained by discipline and performance to the standards set by the Coach.
The result is that at Gonzaga very talented players quickly learn that they will not play unless they play team defense and team offense.
Quite simply from the results on the court, I believe Wayne Tinkle has determined that the most individually talented players must be playing no matter that they often disregard the most basic basketball fundamentals.

In fact I would welcome it if Tinkle player the most skilled basketball players...

One thing I enjoyed about Ralph Miller's teams is that they generally only dribbled with purpose. For the most part the ball was moved via pass and not the dribble. A throwback player who would have been perfect for Ralph's system is Lorenzo Ball. Love the way he passes the ball ahead and always finds the open man without needing to be ball dominate.

Spot on obf - I'm afraid CWT has CGA disease. Players who should win vs players that will win. 3M, Hernandez and on and on. Until CWT can bench his favs, we will be looking for more than a fb coach

Spot on.....we now have lots of aimless dribbling, and some very lazy passes, with lots of slow developing bounce passes. Ralph would not have allowed it. He would have sent in another player, grabbed the offending player coming off the floor by the shoulder strap of the jersey, gotten in his face and drug him around while telling him in no uncertain terms where he could put his aimless dribbling and lazy passes. Usually he would only need to do this a couple of times. I have not seen many negative consequences to poor, undisciplined play in the recent past. True of MBB, true of FB. And I think the results speak for themselves.... Go Beavers!

Lorenzo Ball? There's a 4th Ball brother?
