...We didn't want him anyways. Yeah, that's it. I just hope Eggers is as clueless in this instance as he was when GA was hired! If the three mentioned are in the list and the list isn't 20 long I'll be bitterly disappointed. Baldwin would be the only one worth any interview... IMHO.

This would be very disappointing if true...June Jones doesn’t excite me one bit. Why is he even on a top 3 list for ANY source?

1. Baldwin; most excited for. Even before the Les Miles rumors 2. Smith; I would be extremely nervous. Talk about putting the house on the line A far away 3. Jones; after this experiment fails, Barnes can go with him

I think Eggers is 'out to lunch' on two of the names he mentions in this article. June Jones? Ugh.. No thanks, I place J.Jones in same catagory as M.Riley...that ship has sailed for both. Jones would never excite a fanbase, or be a very big household name outside of the Pacific Northwest. If we are into 60-somethings, then lets go all in on Les Miles, not a June Jones.
As far as Jonathan Smith goes, I love the guy. I think he MAY be almost ready to take a big step up in the coaching ranks. I'm confident in his X's and O's, but not sure he posesses everything necessary to run a P-5 program just yet. I also didn't like the reports out of Seattle that Jonathan is an introvert, stays to himself type of guy. We need a go-getter, with lots of enthusiasm, a recruiting genius that can get the fanbase behind this program from the get-go.
I like B. Baldwin, and think he would be a great hire as well.
The guy who really interests me is Jake Spavital, O.C. at West Virginia. He has coached at Tulsa, Houston, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M (coached Johnny Manziel) , and California, where he was OC and QB coach under Sonny Dykes. Was appointed Interim H.C. when Dykes was fired, but left Cal, and became O.C. at West Virginia. Everyone of these programs are Offensive jugurnauts, something we need desperately. Offense sells tickets, but Defense wins Championships ( Cory Hall). Spavital has coached with or under Gus Malzhaun (Tulsa), Kevin Sumerlin ( Houston & Texas A&M) Dana Holgerson (Oklahoma State and West Virginia), and Sonny Dykes at California. Some of the QB's he has coached include Brandon Weeden ( OK. St.) , Johnny Manziel ( A&M ) and Geno Smith ( W.Virginia).
Spavital is only 32 years old, would get the fan base energized and get OSU back on its feet IMO.

A&M not so much. Supposedly not looking for WC job. Supposedly hoping for Big12, ACC, or SEC gig.

=============================
Not quite seeing how an OC very few people have heard of energizes the fan base, but sometimes I'm way more dense than others. Not saying he won't be a good coach some day, but certainly if he's hired OSU fans would not be dancing in the streets.

I️ need to ask one question to all here that question the candidate June Jones. What is the basis that determines your opinion, especially those that disagree with this potential hire?

If he is truly available, I love the hire. Guy has taken all basically winless teams in need of rebuild and made them into perrenial bowl elligible teams almost immediately. Guy is surrounded witn 30 years of coaching tree contacts to put together a coaching staff that this particular program needs. His coaching record does not reflect the horrible state of the programs he comes in and repairs. Will definately create the identity and swagger we need and then can hand it off and sail off to the Islands

Wow....you guys are acting like Eggers said those were the final three.
"...I would not be surprised to see all three on (the search firm's) short list."
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY CANDIDATES.
You guys are seriously mad at Eggers for reporting what he heard?
I will say that Eggers sources have been a little less than stellar lately. He tweeted out that Nall had mono when it was actually Collins earlier based on a source, and there was something else he reported that ended up being inaccurate that I recall, but the fact that anyone got anything correct with any regularity during the GA regime is shocking to me based on the haphazard and spontaneous nature of decisions made by Mr. Big Pants

I took it to mean that they HOPED Eggers was wrong, and mentioned some inconsistencies from recent reporting. I don't think anyone was taking it out on him, I think we are just disappointed to not see some other names on the list. The fact that June Jones was one of 3 possibilities was frightening to me personally. Eggers is the go-to for Beaver information, in my humble opinion. That doesn't mean we have to like what he reports, but I don't think anyone was angry at him. Speaking for myself, I HOPE his source(s) are wrong about June Jones even being considered. Everyone has reported Niner and Baldwin as potential finalists, so that wasn't as shocking. This is has been an impressively tight-lipped coaching search. Very few rumors to talk about...particularly with as much time as has gone by. I am hopeful the search firm put together a solid list, if those names cross-check Barnes' personal list, then we'll have to see what happens. I hope he's wrong about Les Miles as well. If that guy is even remotely interested, I'd be having the search firm serious do some back-room negotiating.

But until he started doing that, he would not sell any tickets. Unlike Mike R or Dennis. No coach mentioned in here will sell tix until they have success... except Miles. Maybe Tedford. Anyone else ticket sales will be status quo at best. But, thinking there will be a 10% or more drop. Stub Hub had tix for every game for under $20, some under $10. With any research fans can afford to wait and see. Especially any new fan buying season tix.
