Any ideas on today's starting lineup.... It occurs to me that here we are hoping for a great season, and most of us don't even know the starting lineup. I know I don't.....
My guess: Pivec, Gulich, Katie Mac, Tudor & Washington
Pretty safe guess, but who knows?

I certainly don't know who is starting, your first four are most likely correct but I'm not so sure of the fifth. It could be any of the three forwards or Jo. Just to be different I'll pick Janessa. Whoever it is won't matter today, I bet all ten players get to see serious minutes. I just hope we have an injury free season.

bib - - this certainly qualifies for a nothing-else-to-do Sunday morning !! But, what the heck ! I'ssay that Janessa starting would be a very good sign for the Beavs...She is easily the least known commodity of the returning players. If she gets the start it will mean Coach rates her above Maddie Washington, who flashes some promise as a Pac-12 starter...So that is a good thing.. If Grymek starts that may be the most promising sign of all.....

You were right, it was Maddie to start. But I think it is going to be Taya there very soon.

bib - -Tara C. in the starting lineup would be a good omen for the next few years...If Coach believes she is good enough to beat out MW & JT that is encouraging news to me. If true, we're not going to have anything near the board strength we had last year.... On the other hand, we'll have a bit more offensive punch..... As we all know, it's not possible to learn too much from a pre-season cupcake....But that's all we got for now...

Taya doesn't look as strong as Kolbie or Bre, but I think she's quicker and is a better ball hawk. Hard to tell from just this sample, but I don't think she'll be much of a step down from those girls, even as a freshman.
And I really think that if she is as good as I *think* she'll be, she'll be conference freshman-of-the-year and we'll have our 4-peat. I think we're set everywhere else.

Give Taya a couple years with Macy and she will be as strong if not stronger than Bre or Kolby. She has so much more potential. One of the reasons Bre and Kolby worked out was Marie was so good at high post, that allowed them to be low post. Neither were much of a threat beyond 15 feet. Marie was good to 18+ last year and is now just a couple steps inside the three point line. Taya is supposed to be good beyond the arc. She will stretch defenses similar to what Deven did. I just don't see her not starting on this team, especially since Marie looked good at low post (granted against much smaller opponents).
Not sure about Maddie or Janessa, they didn't have an impressive game. Fouling out is not a good sign, especially since the fouls were created by being out of position. I like Maddie better at the number 4, her moves and shot is better suited there. The wing lessens her threat. I just don't think she has the size to be a starter at high post. Janessa played mostly low post, was fine for this game but not sure about the pac12. She does have good strength and that will transfer over. I'm really hoping that they had some nerves and played tight. That they will relax and come into their own. After just this one game of marginal importance I would think that Jo will be the first big off the bench.

Maddie just has to be kicking herself for her play. We know she's better than this.
I liked Janessa's D, and based on this very, very limited data set, I think she's Marie's backup against teams that play too fast for Jo. How much PT she gets will depend a lot on how fast Jo develops and how much stamina that girl has. I'd like to see Janessa get more into the offensive flow, but we all know that it's the D that gets you playing time on Scott's teams.

For those who have seen Corosdale develop over her AAU and high school careers and also saw yesterday's exhibition game, there were lots of ways that she contributed that will help the team in transition in '17-'18 and beyond. For a 6'2"/6'3" big, she will consistently outrun her opponents when running the court. She will earn her share of buckets by beating her fellow big defender down the court and making layups. She has good hands, is a quality passer for her size, and will stretch opposing defenses by being able to knock down 15'-17' shots in the offense when her defender does not come out on her quickly enough. Corosdale didn't shoot well from outside yesterday, but was efficient at finishing on the break and in the paint. Before annointing her as PAC-12 Freshman of the Year, I think that we have to remain patient with the ups and downs that most freshmen experience during their transition to competing at this level. I hope that you are correct with your predictions above, but I will be pleased if Corosdale provides solid defense and rebounding to complement the transition points that I know she will contribute during her minutes this season. Her performance in the exhibition win yesterday was encouraging.
