Not impressed- D was horrible, 3 point D was MIA. Offensively, we have slightly better athletes getting the ball to the hoop, but - 3 point shooting was not a highlight. Ethan looks like he will do some damage, Stevie looked okay. Ball handling was sloppy all game, Pacific had their hands all over the ball on almost every possession. Did not see too many clean, well executed plays. We had the length and athleticism, but cannot execute an offense.

Our Beavers looked like a team that was not taking their opponent seriously, at all. Too cocky. It led to sloppiness (waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too many turnovers for a game like that) and a lackadaisical defensive effort. OSU looked like a team that was content to let its athletic talent win the game instead of playing solid fundamentals and ball control.
OSU ain't nowhere near the point where they can have that kind of over-confidence against anybody. That was a cruddy game against an inferior opponent.

Cons: O execution, passing out of DT, TO, 3 pt D, pace
Pros: athletic freshmen, shooting, 2nd half several breakaway steals, we never trailed lol
*of course all of this was hard to gage because competition was lackluster. Seemed like the guys weren’t that into. DE barely played it was so easy for him

How did the new guys look? Ethan looks great AH is athletic, needs some work but will probably defend well this year ZR didn’t play much, saw some O creativity’s probably needs a year or two XS was aggressive but need to see him against D1 size, hopeful Big guys were unimpressive

Totally agree, Xavier looks like he will blossom. jaquouri looked A LOT more confident - but did not play much. Berger looks very serviceable. Hollins will blossom. Thompson (S), ran PG too much. Zach looked tentative. I know some of these names are not new. Problem with assessing after this game, is that Pacific was really mismatched in size and skill. They were hot from 3 point range - which I think I could have defended better.

Exact same crap as last year vs an exhibition opponent...
Can't depend the 3pt line... gave up 17 or 18 offensive rebounds vs inferior size... SLOPPY work really no offensive scheme.
1st game or not... 17 wins is optimistic and that is with at least 9 OOC wins.
Hoping sitting in Berkeley today will make me feel better.

I heard coach Tinkle say he wanted the team to prioritize defense again like they did when he first came to OSU. Sounds like that is a work in progress. I would really like to see some shut down defense emerge in the these preseason games.

Agree with most posts, looking forward to a healthy Ben Kone to help Drew down low. My main complaint was the lack of defense at the 3 point line, we were bigger, faster but played lazy, that can't happen against better competition.

We have a bunch of great AAU players that have a goal of playing in the NBA. They do not aspire to play as a team. Winning and defense do not contribute to their goals. Sixty percent of the starting five are coach's kids. I hope they realize they need to win so dad can keep his job. Don't make pops be the next Lavar Ball.

I thought that Coach Tinkle told the officials, it being an exhibition game, that they should make it a bit hard on his squad; they let a lot of stuff go on Pacific that was pretty obvious (to me anyhow). I thought it was an object lesson to some players that assumed they could just sleep walk through the game. And Pacific was amazing from beyond the arc.

And Pacific was amazing from beyond the arc. Every team seems to shoot well against us. I don't think it is a coincidence.
