Giving false information to a police officer. Haven't heard why he originally was stopped by the police.

I think he got a scolding and a release. It would appear to be a generous offering from CPD/Benton county given their history. Doesn't appear to be any kind of drug or alcohol involvement. just turned the wrong way on the one way then freaked out when the police pulled him over. probably thought he was going to get suspended or something, then made a hand slap ticket into a bad situation... Kids... kids be stupid.

Hard to understand, when you are a normal white dude, why a person would give a false name if they have nothing to hide. If you are scared for your job, and you already don't trust police, well... it doesn't seem so crazy he did something stupid.

I concur atownbeaver - This sounds like a case of kid that's new in town having difficulty navigating the downtown one-way grid. I remember a friend of mine coming to visit and turning the wrong way on 3rd when exiting the Burger King parking lot. I corrected him before he got too far, but he made a real round about turn across all three lanes of 3rd. A cop saw and pulled us over. He didn't buy our claim that he was new in town and didn't realize it was a one way road, so he made us exit the vehicle while he searched for alcohol that wasn't there. It was a misunderstanding, we were let go with a warning to pay closer attention to traffic conditions, and that was that. Now, I have no problem sitting on a curb waiting for a cop to check my car because it's not going to show up on a blog or a message board or a newspaper. This kid, however, probably knew that this was going to cause an issue for him and so he panicked and tried to get out of it. Not smart, but not exactly a nefarious deed either. I think you sit him for a half or make him run some extra stairs or maybe just call him into the office for a quick chat about not compounding one mistake with another one and be done with it. This doesn't scream kid with character issues to me.

The kid's learned his lesson, let's move on with however the coach has decided to handle it. Not nearly as bad as trying to use a false ID to get into a bar and getting caught.
