OSU is among six PAC-12 women's basketball teams listed in the Week #1 national rankings according to the USA Today Coaches Poll that is accessible below. UCLA is #7, Stanford #9, Oregon #11, Oregon State #17, and both Cal and Washington are tied at #25. A total of 32 coaches vote in the poll. This season's voters include Cal's Lindsay Gottlieb as the lone PAC-12 coach with a vote. sportspolls.usatoday.com/ncaa/basketball-women/polls/coaches-poll/

What coach with a functioning brain would rank UW in the Top 25? Anyone who can read knows their roster has been decimated, that they have low grade talent, and that the one bright light among their returning players transferred out. Borderline silly but mostly pathetic.
Coaches should be embarrassed. Period. Full stop.

The pac 12 coaches got it right as they voted them last, by a large margin in their preseason poll

The pac 12 coaches got it right as they voted them last, by a large margin in their preseason poll Shows that coaches outside the region are not really paying attention much. I will cut them some slack. I am sure most of voting coaches do very little roster research. They just need somebody from here to educate them.

Cut them some slack?? For what? For being negligent and ignorant about meeting a responsibility they have agreed to carry out? A responsibility that reflects their professional judgment. These coaches have access to better info than we do, and they have assistants who can compile an educated dossier on every relevant team in America in 30 minutes.
Coaches outside the region? Are you coherent? Hell, in one hour anyone with wits and a computer can learn enough about Miss. State, South Florida or N.E. Maine to make an intelligent assessment of their national standing....
Expecting mediocrity from professionals who agree to demonstrate their expertise is a mediocre sin, expecting stupidity is.......Well, figure it out.... If you make your living coaching WBB at the college level and you vote UW as the 25th best team in America you are flat out negligent. Or lazy. Or ignorant. If you this accept this as business as usual you're pretty much in the same boat...

There are games to be played and and actual tournament that solves all that.

I was just looking at it from the viewpoint that if I was a head coach for a college women's team I would have very little desire to sacrifice time from the team I coach to research for a poll on teams not on the schedule.

Pre-season polls are worthless, especially in college sports. The teams change so much from year to year, both in personnel and development. Not much is known about a team until a few weeks into the season, you have to see them play to be able to accurately judge how good they are.

Well, at least very early in the season there will be a #5 vs #17 top-25 televised match up, in Corvallis..... The first week poll is all based on "rep", with a lot of vague memories of the prior season thrown in for good measure. Good to see we have a bit of "rep". I wouldn't have quibbled if we had been left out, quite honestly. It does help a team stay visible on the national horizon early - as a result, I am glad we are in there week 1, if for no other reason than it is around NLI time. And we will get early validation with the ND game.....
As for UW, depending on their schedule they may linger for a while, or they may drop out in a week or two (I am impressed with their new coach, but I believe their cupboard is pretty bare beyond that).
Go Beavers!
