OSU on a roll and facing last-in-conference ASU. Chance to get to 5-5 in conference. pac-12.com/sport/womens-volleyballBeavs should dominate. But there are things known as "trap games". 6:00 pm Friday 10/20 on Pac-12 Network.

Cool to see that OSU is in the top-30 in RPI ( www.ncaa.com/rankings/volleyball-women/d1) and receiving votes in the AVCA Top-25 poll ( www.ncaa.com/rankings/volleyball-women/d1/avca-coaches). The Beavers are +8 record-wise with 9 matches left. Hopefully we are looking at a tournament team, but regardless, they are fun to watch and on a good trajectory (we have not had a 4-win streak in conference since 1990). This is being done with a number of freshmen getting lots of PT (though senior Marshall is something special), so the future is bright as well......I guess good coaching and recruiting can turn programs around (and we hired from within and promoted an assistant coach to boot). Go Beavers!

Good to see. It is fun to follow burgeoning success stories like this, and your comments regarding coaching are particularly timely. Football, as an example, and in my opinion - required a very deep dive. We cannot continue to undershoot the target or to accept 'promising' candidates. We need a Dennis Erickson type of situation ( without some of the academic shortcomings ). I know zip about Volleyball , however, it 'seems' to be pretty heavily reliant on recruiting. Second, in my probably erroneous thinking, is that the coach then plays a major role. He/ she cannot win , at least at a championship level unless he has elite level athletes. Seems like Mary Kate Marshall is that level and should be our type of recruiting target. Congratulation girls - you are laying a strong foundation for continued and future success of the program. Have fun and make your mark.

I have gone to a few volleyball games over the years and I have to say what I see this year is unlike anything I have seen in the past 6 years. The team is much more skilled (especially the setter) than I have seen, Mary Kate Marshall is a top hitter in the nation and they play with a level of passion that makes them exciting to watch. I did some research on the coaches as it was mentioned that we promoted an assistant, by the look of it he was not your ordinary assistant, coached at an Olympics and World Championships and was a national team coach (for Australia) as recently as 2015. I have heard Terry (former head coach here at OSU) mention him many times as a coach that could easily coach in the Pac 12 at any school. Looks like Mark Barnard then hired Ron Zwerver who was a gold and silver medallist at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics for the Netherlands as his main assistant and the last piece was Jessica Quinn who played D1 ball and as I am led to believe has twin daughters who are stars at Corvallis High right now. It appears as though Volleyball is very much heading in the right direction - lets hope they keep it up, its been a dismal fall for OSU so I am glad they we still have one shining beacon.

I hope that we are able to have continued success for the rest of this year and into the future.
