Beavers are two games out of first, one game out of third in a conference likely to send 8 teams to the tournament this year. Get a split against the Arizona schools will put us in a real good position. Hold serve at home and get one more split and the beavers could be in the top six in the conference.

None of that changes the issues said hand wringing and belly aching were speaking to. Lol This win, albeit a nice one, doesn't change the fact we've wasted a couple golden opportunities with our inconsistent play. Previous posts simply spell out very obvious and factual concerns. Nothing wrong with that, it is a fan forum. This win is a step in the right direction, not a fix. We could be undefeated and there'd be complaints about something.

I want us to win every single game, make every shot, grab every rebound and never turn the ball over. Also, the foul should always be on the other guy and the other coach should be T'd up because he's a jerk. I'll tell myself that we will win every single game from here on out. However, we'll probably go 9-9ish in conference play (that might be tough). That means there will be about 8-9-10 times when I'll be belly aching and hand wringing because we shoulda/woulda/coulda. Then I'll quickly get over it and move on with my day.

The inconsistency of youth is showing. It is certainly frustrating watching a team you know has the potential to be great, just not play up to their level. They did that against Stanford, Colorado, Utah and UCLA for sure. But, we are not quite halfway through Pac-12 play and are 3-4 and 12-6. not in the best position, but not the worse. I think it will take more than a 6-5 finish though.

To be sure, my hands are still wringing. I really, really want to see my beavers dancing, and opportunities like these have been almost as rare as seeing Halley's comet. OSU very likely needs to win 8 conference teams to dance, and history says more like 9. With 3 in the bag, find 5 or 6 wins below:
- @ UA - @ ASU - Utah - Colorado - @stanford - @cal - @hole - UW - WSU - @ucla - @usc
So they need to win all the home games at take 1-2 on the road. I don't like the games @cal or @hole at all, both those teams are playing better and want revenge. Same with @usc, and UCLA is a matchup problem. Best road shots look like ASU and Stanford, although for some reason WT has struggled vs. Stanford badly, but they are more banged up then they were earlier also. UW is also a team I don't like our matchup with. So 8-10 conference wins is certainly possible, but only if they team that played USC/hole shows up for all the right games where we have some favorable aspects of the matchup. But maybe we get hot, Tres and Thompson catch fire from deep and we easily get to 9 and I'm a Nancy. Here's hoping.

Any road win is going to be huge, really need to win the ASU game to have a chance. Home records right now are just ridiculous - uofo 13-0, Cal 13-0, Zona 11-0, USC 11-0, Colorado 10-1, Utah 9-1, UCLA 9-2.

ASU looks ripe for the picking Agree, this is as good of an opportunity as we are going to get for a road win. The are statistically not strong in any particularly area for the conference, so on paper a team we can hang with well. They don't have a lot of size and appears to be another team that GP II can get to the rim effectively against. They do have a very good PG that can shoot, dish and get to the FT line in Holder. If GP II and our switching defenses can make him struggle, we have a good chance. On the other hand, if we allow him to slash with ease, we're in trouble.

I think it is interesting. Our conference wins so far this year are to the team in first and two of the teams tied for third. Our loses are to three of the teams tied for third and UCLA who is tied with us for 9th. So really we can beat anyone or lose to anyone. The same is true of every team in the conference.
Every team in the conference can make complaints about inconsistency.
The conference is just an absolute mess this year, with no clear pecking order.
Also anyone comparing this year to any Craig Robinson year is just foolish. CR was around when the Pac-12 was lucky to send 2 to the tournament. This year the conference could send 8. So finishing 7-11 would be better than any year CR had.

See, if I were other, more sensitive people on this board, I could throw a fit and claim I was called "foolish."
But I won't. ;-)
