I think they were pretty much already doing this, it is just official now. I believe the Beavers faced the true No. 16 in the SR this past year. Just my 2 cents.... if they could just get umpires more training and glasses, then that would be a huge improvement...

typical NCAA move, find a solution first than look for a problem. I'm sure their all back slapping and hand shakes over this non news. how about merit bases umpire selection and automatic review of critical plays (foul-fair opposite field doubles would be a good start)

Can we assume our coach, Pat Casey favors the seeding initiative?
Might be a good question to ask him when the opportunity presents itself.

The real question... does it really effing matter when it comes to the NCAA???
They will seed 1-16... but they do the seeding. They'll place teams where they want and now have seeding to justify doing it. I mean really 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14, etc. There is no real distinguishing #11-16... so OSU could still be playing Stanford for example. The seeding doesn't really guarantee anything different as the top 16 always hosted, and if all goes to form the NCAA sets the Supers. If there are upsets they have no control anyway.

Sorry for my ignorance Jeff. Is this just a nominal difference from the way it was?

Sorry for my ignorance Jeff. Is this just a nominal difference from the way it was? Yes, I think you could call it that. It may be a bigger deal to some people though. It may be a step towards seeding all 64 teams someday like they do in basketball.
