Teams that will be improved in 2017Oregon State: Murphy’s Law hit Corvallis hard last season as the Beavers were decimated by injuries en route to a 5-27 campaign that everybody — especially coach Wayne Tinkle — would like to forget.

Revisionist history. Tinkle complained constantly that players were not responding to coaching. Maybe everyone's hearing was injured. More likely the chemistry was not there between players and between players and coaches. Not sure how that changes.

He also mentioned, more than once, that we were very short handed and he didn't necessarily have the leeway to sit players who may have benefitted from sitting for a while (something along those lines anyways). That says to me that there were some issues he would have preferred to deal with in a different manner but was kind of hamstrung. If you don't have enough talent that you can sit someone without hurting your chance to win, then maybe there is some legitimacy to the chemistry between players theory.

And the belief that it was ALL injuries, that 5-27 to 20 wins or more setup just happen is crazy. Stl be better physically... much better depth... winning fixes some mental issues... but this team has a ton to prove with games on the line (cuz there weren't many last year).

Not sure how that changes. revisionist history is also ignoring that he 17-14 in his first season here, and 8-10 in the pac, and 19-13 in year two and 10-8 in the Pac and made the NCAA tourney for the first time in eons. Two good years and one disaster year. A long history of good years at Montana. I am more inclined to believe that last year was a disastrous fluke than it is a sign that there are some serious institutional issues at OSU.

What are they? A defensive minded team ala Tink's first year? They seemed to intentionally go away from that in the NCAA year. It worked to that point but it wasn't for any offensive system. There doesn't seem to be an offensive system in place. Be something, if that's a defensive slow it down team, at least you have a determination about you. I realize GPII was the human spiderweb in the middle for that d but the whole squad bought into it and it was awesome watching the wave of defenders swarming the ball, frustrating teams to no end.
