My favorite from his song list. Indelibly associated with my years at OSU.

A great, prolific rocker. RIP. Jeez... Within a year; Frey, Becker, now Petty. All filled my (our) life/lives with great music.

My favorite from his song list. Indelibly associated with my years at OSU. My favorite too.... We're reaching that age when ther are no more live performances. All we'll have left is memories...

A great, prolific rocker. RIP. Jeez... Within a year; Frey, Becker, now Petty. All filled my (our) life/lives with great music. Add to that list Chuck Berry who created a style copied by multitudes of younger musicians, and two of the original Allman Bros. Butch Trucks and Gregg Allman. Also, J Geils and Glen Campbell passed away . I wasn't a huge fan of Campbell's music, but he was a good song writer and outstanding guitarist who did a surprising amount of studio work.

Highly recommend the documentary on Netflix Running Down a dream. It's a long one. Watched it the night TP died. Just could not pull away from it. From Gainesville to LA and around the world. His dispute with the record label (MCA?) and his fight to own his songs. Just a real guy. Really good sense of himself and never got caught up in the star & ego stuff

Got to see Petty and the Heartbreakers at Gill in the late 90s when he was playing with the Wallflowers. That was one great concert and he's always been one of my favorite performers. Rest in peace

Got to see Petty and the Heartbreakers at Gill in the late 90s when he was playing at or with the Wallflowers. That was one great concert and he's always been one of my favorite performers. Rest in peace Saw Petty a couple times. It was May 2001, when he played Gill. Opening act was the Wallflowers as I recall. Dylan's son was the main guy in the Wallflowers. I wish I could have seen the Traveling Willburys but sometimes you can't do it all.
