I'm not quite sure what I think the extent of the punishment will be. What are your thoughts? Has there been anything similar recently in college hoops?

As bad as his behavior/actions were, the punishment is up to the school and coach and I'm sorry having a thread for such is now more embarrassing...
It's over, can't be undone, he's a young man who made a terrible public mistake. But, his possible punishment should not be a forum topic.

I legitimately want to know if there has been anything similar and what the precedent has been. Plus if it was a Duck I'm sure we'd all have our opinions on length of games.

It's on ESPN's front page - this doesn't even register on the embarrassment scale.

Honestly, I'm surprised Coach Tinkle didn't do more to calm Jarmal down. It was pretty apparent he was getting angrier and angrier leading up to the trip. His hands were going up in the air on every dead ball, he was rolling around on the floor after getting called for a block (which, in his defense, should have been a no-call, imo). I've loved Tinkle's coaching over the last two years, but either he had zero faith in the other bigs to be out there in crunch time tonight and was forced to roll the dice with a kid almost at his boiling point, or he was so heated himself, he didn't notice.

4 games, Pac-12 will suspend him for a few games for touching an official but OSU's punishment will be more.

his possible punishment should not be a forum topic. Why? This type of topic is what fan forums are for.

That would be the opinion of those who like public airing of laundry and to magnify the humiliation already felt. Might have been dumb move, but JR is still a Beaver we should support in bad times. Not incite/invite more hurtful comments.
A common rule of thumb I heard somewhere... "build up, not tear down".

Not incite/invite more hurtful comments. A common rule of thumb I heard somewhere... "build up, not tear down". The poll question, in and of itself, is a fair and reasonable discussion to have. It has not elicited any "hurtful comments" in this thread so far; so you are projecting a bit. Reid is a public figure and his actions last night will have public consequences. Especially on a forum that is focused on Beaver basketball. I'm sure he understands that. "Build up, not tear down" is taken out of context because it refers to interactions with other posters. Please stop making this any more difficult than it needs to be.

Hmmmmm novel. Only applies to anonymous posters, but not to athletes representing our school. I'm sure he'd understand. Wow.
