I'm kinda out of patience with not getting even minimal info on the ND game... The ND website has even less info than what is here on Benny's.... I presume the lack of info is because of TV negotiations are still underway.....
The Irish will play this season without their All-American Brianna Turner - she has a torn knee being that is being rehabbed.... This should have some impact on their 2017-18, but I really don't know that much about their roster. I do know enough about basketball to know that when you lose an AA player you almost always are a weaker team - - the question is: How much?
I see that WVB is scheduled for Gill at 3:30 on the 19th so that pretty much guarantees the WBB game will start at noon. (Not "guarantees" in the sense that Destiny Slocum will be the greatest ever WBB at Oregon State - but along those lines).
For those who travel: Hilton rooms are still available and rates are at regular prices for Nov. 19th -- so obviously the media and ND are not taking up rooms.....
So, I guess what I'm getting at is when OSU finally provides the paying public with basic game info, I hope someone will share it here on Benny's.....
Over and out......

(Not "guarantees" in the sense that Destiny Slocum will be the greatest ever WBB at Oregon State - but along those lines). According to their current roster they have 11 players, take away an injured Turner and they are down to 10. Despite trying to get a waiver, yes even the all powerful ND doesn't always get their way, Shepard (an undergrad transfer from Nebraska) will also have to sit out a year. If she does end up with a waiver CR should start the process for Slocum, no difference in their situations. As an aside, Romeo was able to play for uw last year on the grounds that her previous head coach left. She also went to Nebraska. Apparently the waiver only works for the first year a coach leaves. Personally I feel a player commits to a school not a coach, therefore this kind of waiver shouldn't be given. Now back to the original topic, ND will be better than they were in the tournament after they lost Turner. They kind of folded, easy to understand when you lose your best offensive player who is also your best defensive player. But I don't expect them to be as good as they are presently ranked, 6th is very high. I think we are in a great position to upset them, especially if we can pack the house. As much as a rowdy crowd helps a veteran team, I think our young team will feed off our energy even more.

Thanks for the update bib.....I was not aware that Shepard did not attain eligibility......I think most ND fans were counting her as a right now starter.....
Nov. 19 comes very early in the season for both OSU & Notre Dame......So, maybe you're right on the home court, big crowd advantage the Beavs will enjoy.....
It is interesting to speculate on how much talent ND has accumulated on this year's roster. Consider that they have lost what are probably their top two starters in Turner & Shepard, plus they lost the Kentucky POY who transferred to Oregon). A rough, not exact, comparison would be the Beavs having to start the season without Gulich and Pivec (and Kalmer having transferred in the off-season). Yet despite these losses, there they are !!
At any rate, Beaver Nation will be in for a good one when ND comes to town.......Then, less than one week later, Duke at Duke......

At any rate, Beaver Nation will be in for a good one when ND comes to town.......Then, less than one week later, Duke at Duke...... McGraw filed the paperwork to grant Jessica Shepard a hardship waiver on September 1. McGraw was expecting an answer within a week or two. ND's official website nor the usual unofficial forums have posted anything positive so I'm assuming they received a negative response. I'd love to see the request and their justification for the waiver. This is a case of no news is bad for ND, I'm sure if they were to get the waiver we'd hear about it. I can't imagine the NCAA going against their policy, if they were to in this case they would be flooded with requests from every college that took in an undergrad transfer this year. FWIW, there are only 4 sports that require the transfer player to sit out. They are football, baseball, and the men's and women's basketball. Most coaches like the rule fearing that without it there would be a wild west situation with players transferring for any little reason such as getting mad at their coach or teammates. There is also the fear that the more successful programs would poach players from less successful programs after they proved to be better than originally thought.
