Had to rename the show today. Yikes.
As other posters have already said, this is the perfect week to talk about basketball, soccer, wrestling, volleyball, high school football, MLB pennant races. Hell, I'd even love some hot AYSO takes, as long as it's local. Instead, we're subjected to a full day of homage to Mike F'ing Leach, who not only is not our coach, but is a bit of an a-hole. It's remarkable to me that Mike Parker, a man who typically is a champion of civility and moral goodness, would speak of PJ Fleck - a man who sweats positivity and displays genuine enthusiasm and love for his players - in mocking tones a week before gushing all over Mike Leach, a man who routinely bashes his players and their performance.
I missed the first hour, and the podcast hasn't been posted yet (It's usually up within 20 minutes of the show ending) but basically it was all Leach all the time. They did an interview with Wazzu's sideline reporter, Jessamyn McIntyre. She was a good interviewee, but really I think Parker just wanted to have her on so he could say Jessamyn 75 times. I get it, it's a fun name to say. They talked about Leach and Wazzu's chances going forward to win the Pac-12 North. She likes Leach, and explained that him telling the reporters that he was going to kick them out if they asked another injury question was just Leach being Leach, and everyone up there knows the drill. Something about Leach not talking about injuries because he doesn't want kids whose seasons or careers might be over having to read in the media about how their seasons or careers might be over. Makes sense I guess, but don't be a dick about it.
A few people called in, mostly to discuss Jake Luton and the hit. No new ground was covered.
Warren mentioned the Beavers new basketball jerseys and the schedule release. Seemed irked at the number of 8pm games. Spoiler alert: there's three home 8pm games. 8pm is pretty late, but let's be honest, nobody was coming down from Portland for a 7pm Thursday night game either.
That was pretty much it. I give this episode seven thumbs down...maybe there was some new stuff in the first hour, or at least a few good calls. If they ever post the podcast, I'll update.
