There's no other way to sugarcoat it folks. The first three games have been awful, period.
For those of you that want Andersen fired or his staff, and that have questioned his character, called him names, decisions, etc. I totally understand your frustration and opinions. If things continue like this, the Athletic Dept will have some important decisions to make.
Although, its looked bleak, and I may get some backlash on this board for saying this, I still believe in this team and this coaching staff. It was just last November when Andersen was looked as a hero when the Beavs took down the Ducks. This rebuilding project at OSU may take longer than expected.
There is still plenty of talent on this team.I really liked 3M and the job he did at OSU, but Im really really excited about Jake Luton. He's got a big time arm, and lots of upside. The Beavers need BOTH O and D Lines to step up. Im excited for Hodgins and the return of Seth Collins. This team is going to get better.
Last year we got better in correlation with the O line. Remember how bad our line was at the beginning of last season? Too many nightmeres. Once Harlow returned and the rest of the unit improved, the entire offense got way better.
Although the score doesnt show it. The D improved a bit against Minnesota, but has ways to go. The offense needs to learn how to continue drives. Its frustrating as a fan because I feel this team can be a whole lot better.
Even through my orange colored glasses, Its obvious that we haven't looked good at all. If you take away a chunk of mistakes the Beavs made in both losses, and a handful of plays turned out differently, we could be talking about a 3-0 or 2-1 team. Some have speculated or heard rumors of the team quitting on Andersen. Judjing from interviews with Nall and some of the players, I dont believe that is the case. I just see a team that is frustrated and needs to build confidence.
As a proud Beaver alum and a lifelong Beaver fan Ive seen plenty of highs and lows. Ive seen this team overcome disastorous starts before (2004, 2007-09) for example. My cousin (wilkyisdashiznit) who is an amazing historian, can describe examples of Beaver season turnarounds better than I can. Last year was an example of this ( not trying to say 4-8 should be a goal, but the 2016 season did end well.)
Im not saying that were going to win the Pac-12 ( I wish, please, please, please😀) or go to a bowl game ( again, please, that would be awesome) I just want to see the players and coaches play to their potential, which hopefully could lead to some wins.
Keep the faith Beaver nation. It will get better(please get better😀).
