portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/371772-255147-biggest-challenge-for-osus-andersenI haven't seen it posted, although there have been a lot of new threads the last few days. I apologize in advance if this is a repeat. CGA saying the things I want to hear. ""I completely understand what Beaver Nation is going through," Andersen says. "Those fans expect more, and they absolutely should. In the end, it starts and stops with me, and nobody else. "This is without a doubt the biggest challenge I have faced in my career. I signed up for it, and mark my word — we're going to get it done. We're not going to fail. I'm not going to let that happen." Of course, results on the field means a whole lot more. CGA seemed adamant that the players haven't quit.

We have heard A LOT of similar rhetoric from CGA, I am becoming numb to it... yup, blah, blah, we will succeed, we will get stronger, we will overcome...
whatever...
I'll believe it when I see it.

It would do wonders to see him open his mind to more guys that don't necessarily share his Utah roots. That is not meant to disparage Utah football at all, but rather to fire a shot at the nepotism that we have here. Riley and Erickson had their guys too, but CGAs gang is more that way than any I've seen, and they just don't seem to develop kids skill wise or scheme them up to maximize the strengths of our personnel and/or adapt to what our opponents are doing.] An example for me was not even sniffing at guys like Justin Wilcox when he brought in Clune. Maybe Wilcox had no interest, but he told people that nobody contacted him. Say what you will about him being an 'uck alum, etc., and - like Danny Ainge - he may have had an approach that only his team could stand at any given time, but he knows how to put his defensive players in a position to disrupt and succeed, and I guarantee his Cal players won't quit. Most of us agreed that one of Coach Riley's biggest "flaws" was his extreme loyalty to his coaches. In the end his unwillingness to let Banker go to change things up made it good for both he and OSU when he moved on to Nebraska. We are much worse now than we were in that final 5-7 season of Riley's, and CGA, IMO, is going to have to make some serious changes to how we do things and who is doing them if his story here has any chance to have a happy ending.

One of the hallmarks of Utah Utes football under Kyle W has been extremely underwhelming performances from the QB position. When you know it's a weakness, you'd hope it would be the first thing you'd try to address with the staff you choose.

One of Bellotti's biggest strengths was hiring offensive coordinators. Tedford was the brainchild of a lot of their success when he was there. I'm out sure if those two had ties or not. Practically everyone was scratching their heads when Bellotti hired a coach from back east that nobody ever heard of named Kelly. Sometimes hiring from the outside can be a good thing.
