That was Andersn's last game at Wisconsin. He quit after that. Alvarez came out of retirement to coach that same team to a 34-31 victory over Auburn three weeks later. So what you're saying is Erickson is going to come out of retirement to lead us to victory the rest of the way? Erickson might be able to do something with this offense. Players, who have played for him, love him. Erickson might be able to commit to run the damned ball, instead of continuously falling behind the chains.

The players don't have to like the coach to love playing football and play hard to win the game. You can play hard while simultaneously know that the team in general is not in a position to win. It's just seems blatantly obvious that CGA is not a leader of men, at least not while at OSU. You don't close a season with 3M getting you the biggest win of the program in a long while under his field leadership and not let him earn himself out of a starting job on the field. Simply by not doing that, the message is: "Results on the field aren't what matters most". Additionally, there's so much to pick apart from even a novice, imagine what it feels like as a player. Things like: - Our defense can't stop the running game, yet let's run a hurry-up offense and increase the number of stops our defense needs - We've got a bunch of good running backs, let's hand the ball off to a mix of them so few times that none of them will ever get into any rhythm At the end of the day, players love to compete, not just play football. At some point, they'll just go hard out of taking out frustration, but that won't win games.

48-14 at home against a team who barely beat Buffalo. A new record for biggest home loss against a non-conference opponent. (Oregon and Stanford have won more one-sided contests while Oregon State was not technically a part of a conference. Even so, the last time was 1961, when Stanford won 34-0. No team has defeated Oregon State by more since Oregon won the 1899 Civil War 38-0, almost 118 years ago.)

Andersen owes Helrich and Nall a lifetime supply of beer for making him look at the Civil War game. Clearly had no part in what made that happen.

It's also really obvious in the way this team just can't take a punch. OK, so you lose a fumble. We reacted somewhat OK by holding them to a field goal (after a long drive). Then we fumble again deep in our own territory and they score easily, and....we're done. We did drive for one score after that, but look at how hard it was with the fake punt and the acrobat catches by Villamin. My hat's off to Jordan, he willed us to score on that drive. But that's not sustainable over a whole game.
Our other score was a complete gift that we lucked into. Other than these exceptions, we had no fight once we hit a little adversity. We're just running the plays; if they work, great, if not, oh well...

Your gonna make the band sit thru this? They are just kids, man. Schools not in. It was the Alumni band. Anyone prior to class of 96 feels right at home.

The players don't have to like the coach to love playing football and play hard to win the game. I think there are several players that are playing hard, but they are playing for themselves. There is no team, just players doing what they think is best. Nall has looked flat. Togiai blocks when he wants to. Most of the line went to the Togiai school of blocking effort. The offense is hokey and the players with half a brain know it. The linebackers basically ignore play calls and just try and put themselves in position to make a big play. Our corners are flat-out terrible. Our safeties play with heart, but the other nine are a cluster. Some of the seniors are really trying hard, because they have pride and/or are stuck here. Everyone else is looking out for themselves. yup this is as bad as I have ever seen it in 20 years of following the Beavers.
