"It's frustrating when you have guys that are here just to be here," Hungalu said. "We're trying to do something here."
Seems like that chat about educating kids on things not to say to the media didn't take.

With the way the defense has been playing they deserve it. Way to go Hungalu!

They are supposed to lead by example and I'm thinking cheap rhetoric thru the media is not what you want every other teammate doing. There now have been both players and the HC using the media to expose internal strife... terrible... the worst possible direction this program can take. Asinine ploy for any "leader" to take and truly shows there is no positive leadership steering this team.

Yeah, i dunno, maybe some really thin skinned teammates would read that and take it personally, but he didn't name names or anything. I like guys that say something. And his play on the field has been one of the FEW bright spots. I think he has room to say something.

Could work, could backfire.

There have been "talks" among players, they know who he is outing. You don't say some just want to be here and imply they are not pulling toward the same goal without previous issues arising. This and the other comments this year are airing of dirty laundry. It never works unless the "laundry" is tossed out. And, with our depth that is not possible. So we will have players with animosity playing side by side unless there is a drastic lineup change today. That leads to disaster especially in a tight contest where trust is all that more important.

Why can't we just get some really good detergent?

Reminds me of when Logan Ice called out the baseball team a couple years ago, right around the time they lost to UP, or what that freshman kid from Oregon said last year. I didn't like it then, I don't like it now. It's a real slippery slope he's on right now, and it's no different than XC saying "we didn't come out ready to play in the second half," and we all know how much coach loved that comment.

I can see this scenario playing out that way if this has been a constant thing he's harped on in the locker room and he's frustrated with the team not holding each other accountable. You aren't going to reach the guys who are coasting or not buying in directly, but you might wake up your teammates to apply some peer pressure/accountability.
