I'll never forget that maroon #5 emerging from the fog on the far (east) sideline. Then a bunch of Beavers in futile pursuit. Damn you, Reggie Bush!
I'll never forget Mike Hass getting mugged by the USC D as he tried to make what would have been a TD catch... The defender wrapped up his arms and Mike managed to get a hand on the ball. The 2nd defender swooped in and took it off Mike's hand for an int.
Even the USC fans sitting next to us were expecting a flag....
The results from that game were "voided" because Bush was essentially paid to play. Cheatin' Pete skipped out before the hammer fell...
Opinions are like assholes... We all have one and they all stink!

That TD pass would have put Oregon State up in the third, too.......
Bush wasn't being paid yet (supposedly). That would start later in the year.

Yeah, I looked it up the other day, I guess that game still stands as official. Damn.
Good memories from that game though, such a great atmosphere. I remember watching DA reel back and throw and pass and it would disappear into the fog. A second later a HUGE roar from the other side of the field let you know what happened. The first half it was as thick as soup. Started to clear up a little during the second half but still could barely see the other sideline.

My memories from that one are the O-S-U chant prior to kick off. We would yell O in the student section and then the U just came from nowhere basically. Later the Bush punt return where he was pinned on the sideline right in front of us and then backtracked and disappeared so we all just assumed the worst.
Who would have guessed that with all the talent out there on the field that day, DA would be the last man standing in the NFL?
Frostee Rucker is still a team captain in Arizona. Ryan Kalil is Carolina's center, snapping the ball to DA. Even more unbelievable than DA is that Matt Cassel, who I think made the trip to Corvallis, is still playing the same position he played in 2004, backing up Mariota in Tennessee.

Dammit Trebeck...
Okay, one of the last men standing. lol
That was also one of my favorite Beaver starting secondaries - Browner / Aric Williams / Sabby / Meeuwsen if I'm not mistaken? You'll tell me if I'm mistaken..

I believe that that was the starting secondary in 2004. Great bunch there. All four played in the NFL. Browner for eight years (plus four in the CFL), Meeuwsen for two years, Piscitelli for five years, and Williams for two years (plus three in the AFL).
2006's was probably better: Lewis/Hughes/Sabby/Afalava. Laybourn was a decent replacement in 2008, but it was hard to replace Sabby after 2006. I don't think we've had as good of a defensive backfield since..........
