GREAT NEWS !! This is great for OSU WBB, for Gill, and for all of us fans who love WBB..... Someone will have an interesting story to tell about what all went into making this game a GO....
Both teams were really late in getting their preseason schedules out, so they were probably waiting to get this one ironed out.... The Irish will be more than a handful - Maybe Gill will be the great neutralizer.....

Damn, usually you see one Final Four contender, but two? November will say a lot about this team.

Damn, usually you see one Final Four contender, but two? November will say a lot about this team. I agree with Messi... It is daunting task that will prepare the Beavs, win or lose, for a challenging PAC-12 conference schedule. To be the best, you have to beat the best. The OSU coaching staff realizes that and put it into action when scheduling the Notre Dame and Duke contests for the '17-'18 season. Attachments:

Glad to see the OSU athletic website is finally making some progress. Now, will they post the new WBB 2017-18 roster before Nov. 10? Being sarcastic, but 10 of 12 Pac 12 schools have already posted their new WBB rosters...why does it take OSU so long?

0 Mikayla Pivec 1 Aleah Goodman 3 Madison Washington 5 Taya Corosdale 10 Katie McWilliams 11 Joanna Grymek 13 Janessa Thropay 21 Marie Gülich 22 Kat Tudor 24 Destiny Slocum 25 Taylor Kalmer
I don't think Tarea Green is coming back but she was 31.
This accurate as long as no one changed numbers over the summer. It has happened before, Syd was 21 as a freshman and changed for her sophomore year.

Being sarcastic, but 10 of 12 Pac 12 schools have already posted their new WBB rosters...why does it take OSU so long? It is interesting to see Breanna Brown on two rosters right now, ours and Georgia Tech's.....in a nice touch, GT's roster notes that grad student Bre's last college was Oregon State. www.ramblinwreck.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/breanna_brown_1051530.htmlI too look forward to seeing a current roster at least a day or two before our first game :-). Poking around on the GT WBB web site for a moment, I thought it a nice touch that on news articles regarding the recent team trip with Italy, the team posted team pictures with the opposing team's players mixed in. Also, in one game, "newcomer" Brown was reported to have scored 13 points. Go Bre! Go Beavers!

As much as it sucks for us to lose Bre, it was a good decision for her education. I like to hear that she got some playing time, I hope she can find a place in the rotation. They list 14 on their roster and 7 are forwards, 6 of those are 6'2" and above.
Just curious why we haven't published our roster yet? What could be the hold up, I can't imagine a roster change for this season at this time.

You worry whether a starter for the Pac-12 champions is going to get into the rotation for a bottom-half-of-the-SEC team?

I'm with you in hoping Bre has a great season at GT...And I'm also with bib who believes that the transfer to GT was best for Bre's education. Just a few minor comments here about Bre....
(1) I think her departure is a really big loss for the Beavs. She did everything a support Big is supposed to do, and then some. Her height, muscle and defensive skills are going to be missed this year. The first time an opponent beats us badly on the boards Bre's absence will be easier to understand. I'd call her a "quiet big" in that she does a lot of good things on the floor but she is so matter-of-fact doing it that it is not all that noticeable. Quiet Big. Coaches love 'em.
(2) The better the team the easier it is to be successful as a Quiet Big. Someone else can do the scoring. On a strong team you don't have to create your own shot. On a weaker team you often have to create your own shot because the system does not create it for you.. So yes, it is quite possible that a top flight Quiet Big on a championship team will not be nearly as successful on a lesser team. I hope that's not the case with Bre at GT, but it certainly is possible - especially since the Coach knows she is a one and done.
At any rate, I think Bre is a really solid player and I wish she was on the Beaver roster this year.... GO BEAVS.......

You worry whether a starter for the Pac-12 champions is going to get into the rotation for a bottom-half-of-the-SEC team? Yes. Last year as this time I'd bet that not many people thought Bre would be the low post starter, I know I didn't. I actually had Kolby starting. Bre was a huge question mark, didn't get much playing time as a freshman or sophomore and then was red-shirted for the 15-16 season. She stepped up her game last year and ended up starting. However she was very prone to foul trouble, led the team with 99 (30 more than Marie) and so she ended up sharing the position with Kolby. By the end of the season I actually thought Kolby was playing better. In fact Kolby had more minutes for the season 822 - 782. The rest of the stats were very similar between the two. Bre really came into her own last year as a player and team leader, she became more outspoken with her teammates. That is the part we will miss the most, she filled in the leadership gap between Syd and Gabby. A grad transfer is in a difficult situation, they are one and done. Kind of tough for them to learn a new system, not just offense but also defense. It also puts a coach in a difficult position, how much time can they devote to a player that is only there for one year. Are the resources better spent on developing the undergrad players? Getting the chance to play overseas helps her out, gives her more time to learn the new system. She has already practiced because of it, whereas if they didn't go, she still be a month out for practices.
