The two Washington-based players, sophomore Mikayla Pivec (from Lynnwood HS) and freshman Taya Corosdale (from Bothell HS), have local training partners in each other when they are away from Corvallis. The Tweets and videos below note that the two OSU teammates were putting in some skills work together on August 27 in Shoreline, Washington.

The YouTube narrative for that video identifies the girl in the green shirt as Claire Gallagher, an incoming freshman (Class of '21) at King's High School in Shoreline, Washington. The training session on August 27 took place in that high school gym.

I'm not sure but it looks like Pivec has put on a few more pounds of muscle. She was tough to play against last year, could be even more so this year. I remember several times last year where she ran over and through defenders.

I remember several times last year where she ran over and through defenders. I think the aspect ratio of that video looks a little off too - making everyone look a little shorter/stocky-er. Mikayla is a tough gal. I remember last season seeing her take an elbow square in the face and after being stunned for a couple of seconds, shaking it off and going right back to work. Didn't even come out of the game.

I remember several times last year where she ran over and through defenders. Let's hope that she can step up and help to fill some of the chasm that the graduation of Wiese has left. I searched @pivec10 video on Twitter and found a few drives of hers from last season to whet our appetite for what I hope will be more aggression from her towards the basket in '17-'18. I could not find my favorite Pivec drive highlight from last season on video. That drive occurred in the road win at Utah when she went over and through 6'6" Emily Potter to score a second half basket. If anyone remembers that drive and has that video highlight, please post and share.

I was referring to her back and shoulders looking a bit broader and was thinking that the time spent with the throwing coach and t&f strength and conditioning coach paid off. They would be working on different muscle groups than the basketball coaches.
