Has passed away at age 91
Gotta admit, was never a big fan of his humor but you can't deny his giant presence in post-WW2 US entertainment culture.
BTW, Kathleen Freeman's double take is the best part of the above N.P. clip.

RIP. As a "baby boomer," Jerry Lewis has always been an iconic figure to me. Watched most of his movies as a kid at my grade school in San Diego during the summer months. We loved them. Slapstick, silly, innocent humor. For years and years we tuned in to the MDA Labor Day Telethon and watched for hours. A different time.

Jim Carey was the next generations version of Jerry Lewis when it comes to silly humor. Jerry was an accomplished singer as well.
