This is one of the dumbest threads ever. Team gets tickets to a concert - cool Poster gives credit to coach - probably not his idea. I highly doubt Mike Riley was like "you know what, Kendrick Lamar is in town....we should give the team the day off and let them go to the concert!" Granted, Mike Riley probably had to approve it, so we'll give him very minimal credit. Another poster decides to find the most offensive lyrics from a Kendrick Lamar song that he could find as some sort of dig at Mike Riley, I guess This sets off a bunch of "we didn't listen to this crap in my day" nonsense that is untrue of every generation ever. Every generation of teens/young adults pushes the limit of what is socially acceptable at the time - this is not new. Also, I really love how any reference to Mike Riley elicits "here we go again" comments....and also twenty pages of dialogue. Clearly this is what we all want to talk about, but hey, keep denying it fellas (and ladies). The Beavs and Huskers both need to win 9-10 regular season games and play each other in a bowl. The lead-up would be message board gold.

Wow!!!! That is inspirational stuff. Gotta be worth the trip. Nothing like a college education to get your mind right. (What pure crap) This country is toast.Right there with you, bro. I have to laugh when the younger generation can't understand why many of us "older" folk do not like "rap crap". Love the beat, hate the lyrics. In all seriousness, I want to believe that MR did not honestly know what the lyrics were that this person belts out - probably wishful thinking This old man is going to have to disagree with you guys... Kendrick Lamar is a great rapper and his raps have substance. This song in particular is a screed against slavery and it's current incarnation... oppression. But you guys keep listening to Elvis and the songs he ripped off from the black signers writing them and enjoy some of that yellow submarine "substance"... You don't have to enjoy the medium, but let's not pretend like it isn't what is currently popular, acceptable, and IMHO important... Of course MR probably was just trying to do something fun for his kids, but whatever, you guys sound like idiots putting down, "Today's music"... Yeah, yeah, yeah, everything was better back in your day...

Rap/hip-hop is not really my go-to musical genre, but it is for my kids ages 13-21. That's how I know about Kendrick Lamar. It's played in the car and around the house. And he's critically acclaimed, who am I to judge what other's should like? I like some of it and it really depends on my mood, to be honest. It's huge for a group of college aged, black men to get to go this concert. Huge. Good for MR and good for the Cornhuskers.

Spot on boss, and not just 13-21. More like 5 to 30. All 3 of my sons are huge hip-hop fans and they are/were raised in a house with 15 guitars, 5 amps, and a full drum kit at their disposal.
I heard or read somewhere every single KL song from his new album, something like 15 songs, was on the billboard top 100 at one time. That's not because radio is forcing him down millennials throats. He's an amazing talent.
Millennials simply have a wider palette than my generation, that's largely due to better/easier exposure. I'm not sure that's a good thing, it has blurred the lines, it's also obscured more talented musicians while emphasizing one hit wonders and/or mega stars. But like everything else, music is evolving with technology. Roll with the changes.
I still don't get EDM, maybe I'm just old, I could tolerate it 15 to 20 years ago. I know DJs and producers and I can appreciate those that don't walk into a club with their setlist on a keydrive, but I also know it would take me 3 months to do what they do and maybe if I put a giant mouse head on to cover my gray hair, no one would know the are E-ing to a 52 year old white male.
Nothing ruins my Vegas day club experience more than Zedd taking over and blasting 150 DBs at 170 BPM of the same repetitive s%#t for 2 hours, but wait for the drop. Again. and Again. and Again. Of course, they are looking at me like "who brought their dad to the party", and I'm sorta wondering the same thing, but I got in for free and your boss is buying me drinks, so F off kids.

I’ve never heard any of this. I’m not sure what’s good about it and for his sake I hope the tv sound is way off from the video. The performance appears to be worse than the music.

Lol, not even close.
I’ve got teens and a wife that listens to a lot of the same music they do. I didn’t recognize any of the songs and will admit that I may have been more unimpressed with the show itself than the music. It came across as really bad lip syncing on my tv and this really made the performance look bad.

Yes, it did come across as bad lip-syncing and a lot of, perhaps, false enthusiasm from the crowd. I have a love/hate relationship with rap and hip/hop genres. Depends on my mood. Frank Ocean is one of my favorite artists, across any genre. I love it when it's thought provoking and pushing the envelope; like much of Kendrick's stuff. But, the old fuddy-duddy in me comes out with some of the harsher lyrics. And the misogyny has no place in art, other than a teaching lesson from my boys about how NOT to speak and behave.
