Pàxson put on the 10 day disabled list. Andrew moves back up, right in the middle of a wild card battle.

baseball is a cruel game. Andrew pitched a clean 6th. got to 2 outs man on 1st in 7th, weak chopper over Andrew's glove that Cano bobbled trying to make a quick throw. 2 walks ad 3 hits later a 5-1 lead is now tied at 5-5. Andrew left to a chorus of boos, some probably aimed at him and some at manager scott service for waiting so long to pull Andrew. mariners lose 6-5 to drop out of tie for 2nd wildcard spot

A good portion of it was just bad luck. One of those hits was a slider that was knee high and about 3-inches out of the strike zone. The batter had a protection swing that ended up being a soft line drive that drove in two runs.

The batter had a protection swing that ended up being a soft line drive that drove in two runs. The hit on the outside slider (Puljos) that drove in two runs could be seen as 'bad luck'...or as a damn good piece of hitting. When I watch the Puljos swing, I see not "protection", but rather a HOF hitter 'going with' a pitch that (to him) was very hittable. The next two hits by the Angels were absolutely stung. Since he is a finesse pitcher Andrew's margin for error is so tiny that outings like yesterday's 7th inning may continue until he can more completely channel Greg Maddox. Hopefully he will, but I suspect his real growth will occur at AAA rather than MLB.
