The Beavs were #1 in the PAC-12 last season in average home attendance with 4,353 per game. However, that success in putting people in the seats ranked just #20 nationally among Division 1 women's basketball programs. Washington was #23 nationally last season, but will likely plummet in the attendance rankings during the upcoming '17-'18 season. Average attendance in the PAC-12 for women's home basketball games last season was 2,511 per game. The top six Division 1 women's basketball programs ( South Carolina, Tennessee, Iowa State, Connecticut, Louisville, and Notre Dame) on the list accessible via the link below drew average home crowds of at least 8k per game during the '16-'17 season. It is a great thing for the women's game to see that South Carolina was able to draw 12,277 per game last season. www.hoopfeed.com/content/2017/08/08/south-carolina-tops-womens-basketball-attendance-for-3rd-straight-season-washington-has-largest-home-attendance-increase/

There are mens teams that can't even average 8k nationally.

WBB does best in college towns with little competition for attention. It's usually a cheap ticket and in a place like Columbia SC and Knoxville TN, it's the only game in town (as the men are away). OSU gets 4000+ per game from a county with 87000 people in it. (If you want to be generous and add Linn County, you can stretch that to 207k). Richland County (SC) has 407k, Knox County (TN) 451k. Iowa State is 40 minutes from Des Moines, UConn is 40 minutes from Hartford. If Corvallis had that population, Gill would be filled every night.
