I was up visiting one of my old friends who is one of the owners of Camp Cascade this afternoon. It's a girls session this week, and I noticed a young woman leading a group with passion (even in 90 degree heat in the canyon). The message on her shirt was "Being good isn't easy!" As I got closer, I noticed that this fiery leader was Devon. She definitely embodied the hold nothing back ahilosophy as a player. It was fun watching her invest in those young campers - perhaps a future Lady Beav or two among them!

She was probably my favorite player of her era here at OSU. Such a fierce competitor. There was always a big drop of when she was subbed out.
And...it's spelled Deven.

Kind of pains me to see Deven so carelessly disrespected here after all she gave to OSU on the court. She was one of my favorites and loved her competitiveness It's not too much to ask to get her name right for goodness sake. If you know you got it wrong then correct it. A young woman (in-state product, no less) who never lost to the * ucks deserves all the respect we can give. (What do bet that the folks who think spelling someone's name wrong is no big deal are probably named either Bob, Dan, Bill or Joe?)

And here is the latest on Deven - another Beaver coming up through the coaching ranks (and her t-shirt leaves no doubt to her loyalties :-). Go Beavers!

That must be a painful life if it causes you "pain" when someone's name is misspelled.

That must be a painful life if it causes you "pain" when someone's name is misspelled. I said “It kind of pains me”, which is a figure of speech. But in the case of Ruth, Sydney, Jamie, Deven, Gabriella, Marie, Katie, Kolbie, Samantha or Breanna - yes. Particularly when it’s so incredibly easy to get it right. All you have to do is care.

Went to school with Deven's mom...know the family very well. Very fiery player, and always gave her all. Not sure who was the most fiery on that final four team...Deven or Weisner. Love those kids with passion...

You need players like that who are not only talented, but can put a charge in other team mates. Great leaders if they can control their fire...it's not just about talent.
