Nothing jumps out to make me see this is an upgrade over the previous coach who was forced out. Time will tell.

I believe Coach Kelly Sullivan retired. I've not heard anything about him being forced out, maybe you know something I don't. He did a great job with what he was given to work with. As for the new coach, he seems to fit the "new" mold OSU is using to pick their coaches. Emphasizing academics and working to develop a true team attitude. That in a sport that is largely considered individual.

Kelly did not leave on his own. He was building, had an excellent recruiting class coming in, and wanted to stay another couple years. Hopefully the new coach will keep the recruits.
OSU's T&F future is in the middle distance/distance events, which are the new coach's specialty, and the weight events, where we already have a world-class assistant coach (also from ASU). We never will get Pac-12/NCAA level sprinters here. The Me'Arpinos thought they were of that caliber, but they never scored at a Pac-12 meet and will have a hard time making much of an impact at UO, which is absolutely stacked with sprinters.

Wow! I'm surprised. The article had a interesting piece of information. It said OSU uses 18 full scholarships for T&F and CC. I've wondered about this but never had seen it. We have had a lot of women go through the program on full schollies that never advanced enough to be good enough to win a state high school championship. Kelly is clearly a good man. In women's athletics, bulimia and anorexia are a big problem. I think the relaxed environment he created at OSU allowed that issue to be minor here. I can say the following because she has talked about it publicly, www.theesabrinalopez.com/theesabrinalopez, but this is the only instance I know of that in OSU's program. Sabrina transferred to Cal State LA (her home town), after her sophomore year. I am hopeful that Coach Quintana can thread that needle of greater athletic development while still having the safe and nurturing environment that the program must have.

There are nearly 40 women in the TF/CC program. Very few, if any, are on full scholarship.

There are nearly 40 women in the TF/CC program. Very few, if any, are on full scholarship. The roster shows 48 women (2017 season). I think that is the NCAA maximum. One is on a basketball scholarship (Pivec). I'm obviously being subjective and I'm not going to name names, but I'd say 14 more better not be on any athletic scholarship. I'm sure they are quality women and I'd either be interested in hiring them (the civil engineers) and or happy if my son brought them home to meet the family. But they are not D1 track athletes. As a wild guess, I'm thinking 12 fulls and 12 halfs.
