Well, we already know from the predraft MRI there was an issue. So, it eas there and he threw despite it, or throwing too soon caused it. Also, there is something missing in this story. No Dr I've ever dealt with or heard of recommends throwing anything but light 40' flat work until the 12/13th month. I have no idea the situation or who said/did what but there was no way Drew should have been doing mound work as early as he did. What is unknown and we'll find out eventually is the extent of the issue. Do we know that? I've heard info that his MRI was fine, and this is more of a technicality of how and when he submitted his MRI to the Rays. I am trying to basing what is known on what we know. We know that Tampa did not sign Rasmussen and did not offer 40%, but Rasmussen did not become a free agent. According to Tampa, there was something on Rasmussen's Tampa MRI that was not on Rasmussen's earlier MRI that he submitted to MLB prior to the draft. Judging from the fact that Tampa did not make a 40% offer and MLB still did not allow Rasmussen to be a free agent, we can probably safely conclude that it was bad and obviously bad. This is supported by the fact that Rasmussen was on an 85-pitch (if memory serves) pitch count at the College World Series after being on a higher pitch count earlier in the season before tweaking something against Yale in the Corvallis Regional. Guessing as to why the MRI is bad would be a guess. It could be that the surgery was not as successful as initially believed or that Rasmussen injured himself against Yale. Hopefully, with six months of rest, Rasmussen will return to be a weekend starter. I believe that there was a technicality with regards to Rasmussen's MRI. However, I do not specifically know what that technicality would be, and no one seems to be talking about it, at least, not that I have seen.

Its reckless and in fact pointless to speculate on anything associated with this matter. Unless you are named "Drew", Pat, Nate, Drew's doctor, or Tampa Bay's management/doctor you are shooting in the dark. The nature of a fan based message board is conjecture, opinion and discussion. Some posters have insights into topics that others don't. Some posters have opinions, other don't. Maybe it's pointless, but it's not reckless. Reckless implies that some kind of harm or consequence will occur.

I was just curious if he was granted FA Status... and it has morphed into crazy talk.

I agree that it might be pointless, but that doesn't mean that I won't conjecture away.

I don't remember anyone saying that he tweaked something when he pitched against Yale in the Corvallis Regional. Maybe time has dimmed my memory? Sucks to get old.
