[ Gee, I am not sure I would agree with equivalent to rookie ball. I watch a fair amount of Beaver baseball and rookie league with the pioneer league Missoula Osprey ( KJ Harrison comes to town at end of the month). These guys are pretty bad with lots of errors and base running blunders. As a team, I think the Beavs run circles around them. Considering it's fairly rare for College draftees to play above that level when they are drafted, I'm not sure what the argument is against it. Most of the players in the Pioneer league are 19-21 years old with 2-3 years of college experience or AZL/GCL/DSL experience under their belts. I'll admit to not watching Pioneer league games in person, but I think the personnel there is more experienced/talented than the average Power 5 NCAA team. SaveSaveThe difference is they are not a "team". It's a bunch of individuals mostly looking out for number 1. Also a lot of rookie and short season teams have little time to practice and coaching level is not as in depth as a Fall ball, Winter workouts of colleges. And some are just not good coaches. Just because they are drafted college players doesn't make it good ball. Go watch sometime. It's like saying the WCL/Corvallis Knights, Walla Walla Sweets et al is good ball because teams are made up of mostly D1 players.

SaveSaveTherein might lie the discrepancy - we're not used to watching an average Power 5 NCAA team.

Longtime major-league reliever Eric O'Flaherity was an OSU signee, out of Walla Walla.

Longtime major-league reliever Eric O'Flaherity was an OSU signee, out of Walla Walla. Yup. He was in the same class as Buck, Nickerson, and Gundy.
